Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 315

Chapter 157-2

As I moved towards Jacob, his eyes lit up like the fourth of July, as it was clear that he was ecstatic about seeing me, but I couldn’t help but notice him looking behind me. There was no doubt in my mind that it was Raven that he was looking for, but unfortunately, it was only me that he was going to find here.

Without hesitation, I got into the driver’s seat, honestly not knowing how to even drive this damn thing, but I was sure that it couldn’t be much different than a car, as it had a steering wheel with petals on the floor.

My father was responsible for purchasing this thing years ago, and in all honesty, I don’t even think the damn thing ever left the fire station, as we had really no use for it, unless we had to deal with a human rescue situation. Up until Raven arrived in Beaumont, we never dealt with humans, but then, on the other hand, I guess Raven wasn’t a human.

Turning the key to start the engine, Jacob’s eyes widened, as he asked me, What are you doing?

Turning to fully face him, I noticed right away he was holding a black duffle bag tightly to his chest as if he was worried someone was going to take it from him. Something told me whatever was in that bag, was vital in finding Raven, as I could see that it was from our fire department.

From the short amount of time I had spent with Jacob, I had learned that he was a whiz on a computer, leading me to believe that he was the one solely responsible for finding this camp. But then again, I began to wonder if Lexi was somehow behind this, making me look around paranoid, as if I was going to spot her hiding in the woods.

Instead of answering his question, I asked my own, Where is Lexi?

Jacob immediately began to shake his head, while he said to me, I don’t know. She made a jump for it shortly after you and Raven did. But first, she tried to use a spell to find you, but for some reason it didn’t work.

Narrowing my eyes at him, not knowing if I truly believed him, I now asked him, And how the hell did you get here?

The house somehow landed back in Beaumont, where I was greeted by the lovely Ryder brothers, who wanted to rip my head off because Raven wasn’t with me.Jacob explains to me, while this time I listened closely to his heartbeat for a sign that he was lying to me, but it doesn’t even skip a beat, telling me he was telling the truth.

Plus, let’s face it, I could see Cash just sitting there waiting for Raven to return, as he was a

hopeless romantic. As for the other brothers, I would have foreseen at least Chance doing everything in his power to get Raven back, but then, on the other hand, he probably had a lot on his shoulders with the rogues attacking Beaumont, clearly looking for her.

In all honesty, right now, maybe Raven was safer being hundreds of miles away from Beaumont, but then again, the rogues of West Virginia didn’t take long to find her. Plus, I needed to get Raven reunited with her mates, if I was to help her end this centuryold curse on her family.

I

Throwing the sport utility vehicle into gear, I finally decided to answer Jacob’s question, by simply saying to him, We are going to find Raven and put a damn end to all of this.

Driving away from the camp, I handed Jacob the map that the doctor had provided me with. Before I knew what Jacob was doing, he had a small laptop in his hand, with aerial views of the mountain range we were in on the screen.

Not stopping, wanting to put distance between Cash and me, I continued to drive towards the first marker on the map, hoping that Raven and Carl would be there. But as I continued, Jacob yelled with urgency in his tone for me to stop, as if he had found something on that little computer screen of his.

Bringing the sport utility vehicle to an abrupt halt, I looked over at Jacob, ready for him to explain to me what was so urgent, but as I turned to look at him, I realized why. Following his path of sight, I looked past him into the thickness of the forest, where I saw slight movement in the far distance.

At this distance, I couldn’t quite make out who or what it was, but what I did know was it was obviously waiting for me to continue, telling me that it was following us. Shit, the last thing I needed was to lead the enemy straight to Raven, placing her life directly into more danger.

Unfortunately, I had to make a decision on what to do, because I pretty much was on my own out here, with no one really to back me up. Jacob was good in the sense of helping me track down Raven, but as for defending us against the enemy, I was pretty much our only line of defense.

As I contemplated what to do, my eyes moved to see Jacob holding the laptop now tightly against his chest, as if he expected what was coming, even before I had decided my next move. Knowing that we were both clearly on the same page, I gunned it, taking off as fast as the vehicle would take us, as my eyes remained on the figure deep within the forest.

Sure enough, the figure began to follow us, telling me that we were indeed being followed and that I needed to come up with an actual plan fast, because I knew I couldn’t allow whomever it was to get another foot closer to Raven.
