Chapter 159-2
But did she really think that learning to fight another human was anything remotely close to what I was actually up against? Honestly, I don’t think there was anything she could have done to prepare me for all of this, other than maybe letting me in on the little secret that they existed would have been nice.
Plus, it would have been nice to know that I had a wolf inside of me that needed to be released before some damn super moon after my eighteenth birthday. But then again, maybe she didn’t have all the facts, since she had run from this life, hiding herself among the
humans.
The sound of a low growl drew my attention back to the present, as my hand wrapped tighter around the handle of the pan, making my knuckles turn instantly white from my grip. Gridding my teeth together, bearing down on the pain, as I found a newfound reason to push through it, knowing that was what my mother would have wanted.
Quickly, I moved back to the small window peering outside, thinking that I was going to see Carl standing where I had last seen him, but unfortunately, Carl was no longer there. My heart instantly began to race, as I pulled the curtain to the side, trying to get a better look at the front yard, but still there was no Carl, making me wonder where the hell he would have gone
Carl was my only ally out here, and without him, I was in all of this by myself. Honestly, without him, I didn’t know if I had a fighting chance against the rogues, as I didn’t have a wolf or at least one that had come forward.
Right now, the way it stood, I was nothing but a mere human trying to fight a supernatural beast off, and the odds weren’t in my favor. If anything, it now made sense to me why they were so determined to hunt me down, as I was nothing but a weakling to them.
But then, on the other hand, it didn’t seem to be working out so well for them, as I was sure my guardian angels were working overtime to keep me alive and safe. The problem was, eventually my luck was going to wear off, and right now, I was worried that this was that time, especially when I couldn’t spot Carl to save my life out the small window.
Just as I was about to give up on locating him, I heard another low growl, drawing my attention towards my right, where I spotted a hint of him in his bigfoot form, lying on the ground with a huge brown wolf on top of him. Not even thinking, I rushed for the door with the cast iron pan still in my hand, knowing that I had to do everything in my power to save him, just like he had saved me and Mazie.
My only thought process right now was that I was the one that had brought him into all of

this, and I needed to make sure that I wasn’t the one responsible for him losing his life. I couldn’t even bear the thought of it, nor did I want to think about it, as enough blood was on my hands already.
Instead of screaming and running into battle like I had done the last time back at the school in Beaumont, this time I went in stealth mode, trying to sneak up on the rogue wolf, knowing that it was my best bet to catch him off guard. But the only problem was, his canines were borne, and I could clearly see that Carl was having one hell of a time keeping him from taking a huge chunk out of his neck, as Carl’s hands were wrapped tightly around the wolf’s body, trying to hold him back.
Knowing that time wasn’t on either of our sides, I did my best to remain as silent as I could, as I rushed to Carl’s aide. But just as I was a couple feet from him, a twig beneath my foot snapped, but it wasn’t the only thing that snapped, as the rogue’s head did too, straight in my
direction.
Not even thinking, my body seemed to go into autopilot, as my arm holding the cast iron pan raised in the air, as high as I could raise it. With inhuman strength, I somehow swung the pan, hitting the rogue straight in the side of the head.
Crazy as it may sound, the rogue wolf went flying off Carl, like I had swatted him away like a damn fly, leaving me standing there with my mouth ajar, as I held the cast iron pan straight in front of me just staring at it in awe. There was no way humanly possible that could have happened, leaving me to believe that everything everyone was telling me had to be true.
Carl quickly got to his feet, taking a fighting stance once again, placing himself between me and the wolf that I had tossed off him like a fly. Lowering the pan, as I peered around Carl, expecting to see the wolf still lying on the ground knocked out, I quickly realized that the wolf I had tossed wasn’t the only rogue wolf that had found us, as a stream of howls filled the air. One by one they began stepping out of the shadows of the forest into the clearing, and as I slowly turned around in a circle with my back against Carl’s, I realized that we were now surrounded by a pack of them. There was no way in hell that the two of us were even a match for them, leading me to believe that my luck had finally run out, and that we were going to need a miracle from God to survive this one.
