Chapter 160-2
Clien
Right now, I honestly had no clue what a miracle would even look like, but I knew by looking into the rogue Alpha’s eyes that was what it was going to take for me to get out of this alive. After my parents had tragically passed, and I survived, I wondered how the hell I could have lived only for them to die, wondering what it would actually be that took my life. Staring right now into the fire burning in this rogue Alpha’s eyes, I couldn’t deny that this just might be what sends me into the afterlife with my parents, as I knew there was no way in hell, I stood a fighting chance against him and neither did Carl.
Covering the last window in the cabin, other than the one I was staring out of, Carl moved to my side, peering out the window himself, before he says with worrisome in his voice, “This isn’t good. A couple of rogue wolves here and there I can handle, but a whole damn pack of them with their Alpha, I’m in way over my head.”
What he had just admitted to me wasn’t something I didn’t already know, but hearing it actually from him made it feel even more real, making me feel like this was the end for not just me, but for Carl too, as I had drugged him into all of this. Once again, I felt like I needed to do something, anything that might save his life, because I didn’t want any more blood on my hands.
Back in Beaumont, Josie had already lost her life because of me, and several were hospitalized from the attack at the school. There was no denying that the blame was on my shoulders for all of it, because if I hadn’t come to Beaumont, neither would the rogue Alphas.
Honestly, I had no clue what to even do at this point to try and save Carl’s life, because, by the looks of things, we were completely surrounded. There didn’t look to be any other way out of here, except through them, which wasn’t going to happen with only the two of us. I knew that Carl wouldn’t allow me to sacrifice myself for him, because he had already stopped me once from doing so, and that was why I was going to have to come up with a plan, making him think that we were both going to get out of this alive.
I was so overwhelmed by what was happening that I hadn’t even noticed the wound on Carl’s forearm, until I spotted it out of the corner of my eye, dripping blood onto the old plank floors.
“You’re arm.” I said to him, as I turned away, looking for something to wrap around it to stop the bleeding, as I tried my best not to feel queasy from the sight of the blood.
Finding what looked like a kitchen towel now lying on the floor, I quickly moved to scoop it up before I turned back to Carl, who was now holding his arm right at my eye level for me to see the wound head on. By the looks of things, the rogue wolf that had attacked him on the front lawn got a pretty good bite on him, removing a chunk of his flesh.
Chapter 160-2
Sitting the cast iron pan down on top of the bookcase, I went to work trying to do my best to wrap Carl’s forearm to stop the bleeding. To my surprise, it seemed to already be healing, making me wonder if this was some kind of supernatural trait of theirs.
“It will be fine. It’s just a small scratch.” Carl tells me, as he lets out a nervous chuckle, but I
know better than that.
When he had first held it up, I could have sworn I saw meat hanging freely inside, but now it just seemed to be a pretty deep gash. Either way, it was by no means just a scratch, as it would easily require stitches if he was a human.
As he pulls his arm away from me, a low growl rumbles from outside the cabin, drawing our attention back out the small window to the rogue Alpha now standing only feet from the front porch with his pack of rogues standing directly behind him. Even though I wasn’t in his direct line of sight, I felt like his eyes were directly on me, burning a hole straight into my
soul.
Crazy as it may sound, it wasn’t a hundred percent fear I was feeling at this moment, staring down this rogue Alpha now only feet away from me through the pane of glass, but something else that I couldn’t quite wrap my mind around. It felt almost like he was calling on something deep inside of me, making me take a slight step back, trying to free myself from the invisible hold I now was feeling from him.
But as I took a step back from the window, another low growl radiated into the cabin, this time vibrating the floor beneath my feet, as I could have sworn, I heard someone say in my head, “You can run, but you can’t hide, blood of my blood.”
