Chapter 162-2

Honestly, I had no clue who the hell the scream had come from, but I knew that it had to be either Mazie or Jacob that had let it out, because they were the only two outside in human form. Knowing that they were in trouble and needed me, I removed the dampened curtain from around my face and began to swing it at the flames, in hopes of putting some of them out. But as I did so, more smoke entered my lungs, making me bend over coughing, as I tried to catch my breath, deterring me in my attempt to make a path for us.
Thankfully, Carl had a better idea, as I felt him bump into me, pushing me slightly out of the way, while I looked up just in the nick of time to see him throw the rest of the bucket of water that was once by the stove onto the fire that was blocking us from leaving. The smoke was instantly replaced by steam, but honestly, I couldn’t tell the difference, as they both burned my lungs like hell, making me continue to cough.
Carl tossed the bucket to the side, before he wrapped his arm protectively around me, and rushed us through the front door, tucking me safely under his arm. It wasn’t until I felt my feet hit the earth, did I realize that we were freed from the rogues‘ trap. But as Carl’s arm disappeared from around me, so did my balance, and I couldn’t help but fall to my knees, as I felt like I was coughing up one of my lungs.
I could barely hear the series of growls happening around me, as my coughing impaired my hearing, and as I looked up to see where the hell they were coming from, I found not only my hearing impaired but my sight too, as my eyes were now glossed over with tears.
Immediately, I tried to wipe the tears away, but by doing so, I only made it worse by adding the smoke debris from the back of my hand, causing my eyes to now burn slightly. I honestly felt like everything that I was doing was completely wrong, and that I was useless in helping anyone, when I couldn’t even help myself.
But then I heard a familiar voice calling out my name, and I turned in the direction I had heard it, barely able to make out the silhouette of a man, but I knew that silhouette better than anyone. Within seconds, Jacob had made his way to me, and his arms instantly wrapped tightly around my body, helping me get to my feet, as I realized why he was holding on for what felt like dear life to me.
It was clear that he was scared to death, just like he was during the attack at the school, and in all honesty, I didn’t blame him, but what I didn’t understand was why the hell he was here putting himself in the middle of things again.
“We need to get the hell out of here.” Jacob says to me, as he began to guide me to my right and it wasn’t until I felt him sit me down inside the vehicle on a seat, did I realize what he had
planned.
* Chapter 162-2
Still coughing up my lungs, Jacob thankfully hands me a bottle of water, and I quickly take a drink, before I pour the remainder of the water over my eyes, flushing them out and stopping the burning sensation. Slowly, I opened my eyes, finally able to see clearly enough to see what the hell was going on around us.
Unfortunately, I wish that I was still in the dark, as total chaos was happening, but from what I could see, it wasn’t good. It only took me a moment to spot Mazie in her wolf form, fighting directly in front of me. By the looks of things, she was doing her best to keep the rogue wolves at bay, but it was just a matter of time before they wore her down, as she was clearly outnumbered by them, even with the help of Carl beside her, fighting them off.
