Chapter 164-2

White smoke began to pour from under the now crinkled hood of the vehicle, and I could no longer hear the engine, telling me that it was my last ride or die in this thing. A slight moan came from my right, and I turned my head fearing the worst, but thankfully Jacob was alive and moving, just slightly bumped around.

But now, seeing that he was okay, my attention turned to behind us, as I had no clue what the hell just happened. The massive black rogue Alpha wolf laid on the ground motionless, surprising the hell out of me. I couldn’t believe that hitting him would render him so easily, but as I began to silently celebrate the victory in my head, I realized that it was premature.

Abruptly, the rogue Alpha rolled onto his belly, leaving out a low growl, before he shot up onto all four of his paws, turning his head to look in my direction. By the look in his eyes, I had captured his full attention, an attention that I wasn’t quite sure I fully wanted, because if looks could kill, I would have died a thousand deaths just from his piercing gaze right now. “Oh shit!” Jacob said obviously from noticing the killer look in his eyes, before turning around and trying to unbuckle his seat belt, freeing himself to make a run for it.

Knowing that Jacob had the right idea, I began to fumble with my own seat belt, as I kept turning my head slightly, looking out of the corner of my eye at the rogue Alpha slowly stalking his way towards us. But as I press firmly down on the button, trying to release myself from its hold, I realize something is gravely wrong with it, as the damn thing won’t budge.

My anxiety at that moment comes rushing back like a tsunami, mixing itself with utter fear, as I felt like I was trapped. The fear stemmed from knowing that if I didn’t release myself from this thing, then I would be as good as dead, as you might as well hand me over to him on a damn silver platter.

“Raven, we need to go now!” Jacob now says to me with urgency in his tone, as he jumps out of his side, staring back in the direction of the rogue Alpha with pure dread and fear in his

eyes.

I didn’t even need to turn to know that he was making his way towards me, so instead, I focused my attention on the seat belt, trying to get the damn thing to release. Unfortunately, the impact must have somehow affected it, causing it not to want to work efficiently.

“Um, Raven, now would be a good time to get a move on it.” Jacob says before he looks over at me, and at that moment he realizes why I haven’t moved, as his eyes move to the jammed seat belt, not letting loose. Leaning into the vehicle over the passenger seat, Jacob moved to help me, but his efforts went just as mine had.

The sound of a low growl at that moment made the hair on the back of my neck stand

straight up, as I knew that the rogue Alpha was close, and that there was no way in hell I was going to be able to get out of this damn thing in time to make a run for it. I honestly thought that was the worst of my problems, but I quickly realized that I was in an even bigger predicament, as flames began to rise from under the hood of the vehicle.

“Jacob, you need to get out of here.” I cried out to him, with tears now flowing freely down my cheeks.

In all honesty, I couldn’t tell you what the tears were from, because right now my emotions were all over the place and my anxiety was through the roof, but the one thing I had still on straight was my head, and I wasn’t going to take Jacob down with me. He needed to get the hell out of here, and I was pretty sure that he would safely do so, because it was me that the rogue Alpha wanted.
