Chapter 165-1

Raven’s POV

Claim

When I finally came to the realization that she was truly here too, I wanted to scream at her not to touch me because I was still apprehensive of her, even though she was clearly trying to help me. But as I stared at her, the anger inside of me began to build, and just as I was about to let loose on her, the seat belt freed from around me, and she took me by the arm, pulling me out of the vehicle.

“We need to get you the hell out of here.” She says to me, as she tightens her hold around my arm, and for a split moment I almost thought about making a run for it and letting bygones be bygones, but I stopped, knowing that I couldn’t leave the people that I loved and cared about behind.

Pulling my arm from her grasp, I narrowed my eyes as I took a step back from Lexi, wondering if she truly thought that I had forgiven her for lying to me about our friendship all this time. Plus, was she truly willing to just rescue me alone when Jacob was here, clearly needing our help too.

The three of us had been like the Three Amigos for as long as I could remember, but now that the cat was out of the bag of who she was and who I was to her, did Jacob’s life mean so little to her that she would just leave him behind?

Knowing that I could never be as heartless as she was being right now, I shook my head at her before turning away, looking behind me at where Jacob had run off towards. Instantly, I saw his body lying on the ground and I didn’t even give it a second thought before I took off running towards him, fearing the worst had happened.

I could hear Lexi yelling behind me to stop, but there was no way in hell I was leaving my true friends behind to save my own ass. Unlike Lexi, I was more concerned about their wellbeing. and I would die a million deaths before I allowed them to die for me.

Kneeling beside Jacob’s motionless body, I gently turned him over, as I held my breath, praying that he was okay. Thankfully, there was no blood that I could see, allowing me to let out a long exhale, as I felt for his pulse. His blood was rushing through his veins, as his heart must still be racing with adrenaline, but that was okay, because it was a sure sign that he was alive, just probably knocked out cold.

Once again, Lexi grabbed me by the arm, and I was quick to brush her off, as I moved to stand, knowing that I had to do something before someone got seriously hurt. Turning. I saw Mazie and Carl, still fighting for their lives, as it looked as if more rogue wolves joined the battle. They were still holding their own, but I could see that the fighting had played a toll on

them both, as their reaction times seemed to be slowing down.

A low growl from the complete opposite direction drew my attention at that moment towards Cash and the rogue Alpha. My heart instantly sunk into my chest, as I was quick to notice that they were both covered in even more blood than earlier, telling me that they were going to fight to the death if I didn’t find a way to stop all of this.

Honestly, I had no clue what the hell I thought I could possibly do to stop them now, as I knew I wasn’t strong enough on my own to help them fight. By the white smoke still rolling from the hood of the sport utility vehicle, it was clear that it was out of commission and that my only means to somewhat help was gone.

My eyes then began to scan the area, as I looked for anything that might give me the upper hand, but damn it, we were in the middle of God’s country, and there wasn’t a single thing remotely in sight that might help me stop a wolf. If anything, the open area gave the wolves the upper hand, as there was no place for someone like me to hide, especially now that the cabin was completely on fire.
