Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 335

Chapter 166-1

Raven’s POV

You know that moment when you realize that you might have bitten off more than you can chew? While that was clearly what I had done, as I turned around praying to God, I made it out of this alive, because, from my standpoint, the odds weren’t in my favor.

The only positive thing that I knew was that if the rogue Alpha was following me, then my friends would have a chance to survive, and those odds sounded pretty damn good to me. Taking off in a full sprint, I ran straight past Lexi, who’s eyes were locked on the rogue Alpha. It was clear that she had no clue what was about to transpire, or else her ass would be getting the hell out of the way, because any minute I was sure he was going to charge at me like a raging bull.

Honestly, I don’t know if it was the low growl, or the sound of paws heavily hitting the earth that made me look back over my shoulder, but either way I did, and I wish that I wouldn’t have. The sight of the rogue Alpha charging in my direction, covered in blood, was going to forever haunt me, even into the afterlife, which by the looks of things was coming sooner than I would like, because I was barely to the tree line.

I knew that there was no way in hell that I could outrun a wolf, but for heaven’s sake, at least let me lead the damn thing away from here just enough to save my friends. But unfortunately, the rogue Alpha was showing no signs of being hurt, while I was trying to now push through the side effects of my injuries, doing my best to run as fast as I could on two legs, while the pain began to rush back to my ribs.

Tears once again threatened to spill from the corner of my eyes, and I did my best to hold them back, but I couldn’t hold back the scream that left my lips, as a jolt of pain rushed through my side. It honestly felt like I was being stabbed with a damn knife right through the ribs, as the pain became too overwhelming to bare, making my efforts to lead this rogue Alpha out of here almost come to a halt.

Between the fact that I was running on two legs and definitely hurt, to the obvious that there was no way in hell that a human could outrun a wolf even on a good day, I knew that my days were outnumbered, and I honestly didn’t even know why I was trying. But then I spotted Mazie out of the corner of my eye, and I knew exactly why I had to continue.

Bearing through the pain, I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, straight into the abyss of the forest, as I tried not to look over my shoulder again at what was coming for me. With the pain in my ribs growing by the second, I try to divert it by biting down on my bottom lip, but it only makes the tears pool in my eyes more, glossing over my pupils and blurring my vision, making it hard to see where the hell I was running.

Chapter 166-1

I did my best not to fall over the forest foliage, as I tried to stay upright on my feet, and keep as much distance between me and the rogue Alpha as I could, knowing the further I led him away from my friends, the safer they all would be.

I didn’t need to look back to know that he was still following me, as the sound of all four of his paws heavily hitting the earth’s surface was enough for me to know. But as that sound drew closer, the racing of my heart began to pound not only in my chest, but also in my ears, as fear began to consume me, not knowing how many more strides I would be able to take before he catches me.

Now having both my senses impaired, I wipe away my tears, hoping it will help my vision, as I can see something up ahead. At first, when my eyes landed on the thick bushes that had grown massively together, I feared the worst that was until I spotted a tiny opening that looked as if a small creature had burrowed its way through it. Knowing that this might be my only chance for survival, I headed straight towards it, as I prayed that the opening was large enough for me to fit.
