Chapter 167-1

Raven’s POV

Clam

My hands began to shake, as I tried to remain as quiet as I could, waiting and wondering what was happening. The only sound I could hear was the sound of my own heart beating heavily in my chest, as I truly thought that this was the end.

Unfortunately, that silence only lasted a minute before the surrounding foliage began to move once again, this time shaking so damn hard that I thought it was going to crumble down around me, exposing me for the world to see. But as quickly as it began to shake uncontrollably, it stopped, before a series of fierce growls followed.

Biting down hard on my bottom lip, I remained silent, as my leg began to throb in pain, while I began once again to look all around me for a way out, not knowing now what the hell was going on at the end of the tunnel. My eyes this time spotted a small gap in the foliage, making me slowly scooch my way towards it, hoping and praying that it might be my exit out of here.

But as I made my way towards it, the opening didn’t get any larger, and I realized that there is no way in hell that my body was going to fit through it. Frustrated, I leave out a silent scream, as I pound my fists into the ground next to me, while the tears in my eyes begin to flow freely from the corners of them.

In my moment of weakness, I second guessed my choice to stay and fight, now knowing that I was going to probably die. With my leg throbbing in pain, my hand moves to it, but is instantly covered in my own blood, as the wound was obviously worse than I could have imagined.

Right now, I could only pray to bleed out, giving me a peaceful death, because I knew if the rogue Alpha made his way to me, then he was going to clearly make me suffer. For a moment, I thought about taking the pressure off it, and allowing the blood to flow more freely from the wound, but even in this moment of weakness, I still found myself not able to give up and throw the towel in.

So instead, I wiped away my tears and turned my attention back to the small opening, getting to work breaking away pieces of the driedup foliage, hoping that I just maybe could expand the opening so that I could fit through it, burrowing myself deeper into it. But as I began to make headway breaking away the withered pieces, the low growls drew louder and fiercer as the foliage once again around me began to sway, this time more like it was being shaken to death, causing me to wonder if I was running out of time.

Whatever was happening at the other end was surely not sounding good, and I honestly at

this point couldn’t tell who was all involved, as it sounded like an array of different low growls happening all at the same time. If I was being honest, it sounded as if a war was happening only feet behind me, and I had to wonder if every damn wolf from the opening had followed

  1. me.

It also had me now worried to death about Mazie and Cash, wondering if there was anything possible I could do to help them, but as I looked down at my leg at the bloodsoaked sweatshirt wrapped around it, I knew that I was out of commission helping anyone. Hell, I was barely able at this point to help myself, and just like my lovely socalled cousin said, I will probably most likely bleed out soon, as I was slowly starting to feel the effects of losing so much blood.

But I didn’t allow that to stop me, as I continued to break away at the opening, surprisingly expanding it easier than I thought it would be. Unfortunately, it came with a price, as the palms of my hands were taking a beating with the nasty thorns cutting right through the tender flesh of them like sharp razor blades.
