Chapter 167-2
At this point, I was barely feeling any pain other than the throbbing in my leg, which was somehow overpowering, the pain from my ribs, and the now million little cuts on my hands. There was no doubt that if I survived this that I was going to need some major medical treatment, because there was no way in hell my body was going to be able to recover from this attack on its own.
This thought had me wondering if there was any real scenario of me being able to get out of here alive, because even if we survived this rogue attack, we still had to get me medical treatment, which we were clearly hours away from out here in no man’s land.
Breaking off a thicker branch from the small opening, I quickly noticed the extremely sharp tip on it. My eyes became fixated on the sharpen point, thinking of the many ways that I could use it as a weapon, as the surrounding foliage began to sway inward, telling me it was just a matter of time before one of the rogues busted their way into me.
Evaluating the progress I had made, I realized there was no way in hell that I was going to burrow myself out of here before one of them made it in. Knowing this, I gripped my hand around the stake and focused my attention back towards the tunnel that I had come through to get here, noticing that there was no longer a hint of sunlight beaming through it. There was no doubt in my mind that someone was making their way through the tunnel at this moment towards me, as it all now made sense of why the foliage was swaying like it was.
Scooting my butt to the side, out of direct view of the opening, I held tightly onto the only weapon that I had, knowing that at any moment I was going to have to fight for my life. Thus far, I had been able to allude close and personal combat with these rogue wolves, but all that was about to change soon. I had stupidly burrowed my way into a dead end, leaving me with no other option than to make a stance or give up.
Since I was never really a quitter, but more of an overachiever, I found myself not able to throw the towel in, even though I knew that I pretty much had bitten off more than I could chew. But that had never stopped me before, and it wasn’t going to stop me now, as I planned on now fighting for my life until my last breath.
Between the way the foliage was now swaying inward, to the sound of it cracking under pressure of something drawing closer, I knew whatever was making its way to me would be upon me soon. Tightening my grip around my self–proclaimed stake, I raised it in front of me. pointing its sharp tip straight at the opening, ready to defend myself at all costs.
The sight of a brown fur paw now reached through the tunnel into the opening and knowing by its color that it didn’t belong to Mazie or Cash, I decided now was the time to make my stance against it, before it burrowed its way completely into the opening. Raising the stake

above my head, I brought it straight smack down in the middle of its paw with all my might, penetrating its sharp point right through its fur and flesh.
The sound of a whimper filled the air, before a low growl vibrated the earth beneath me, and I knew that I had not only wounded it, but also pissed it off, as the other paw moved to swipe towards me. Knowing that I couldn’t abandon my only weapon, I began to try and pull it from within the rogue’s flesh, but the damn thing seemed to be stuck.
Between trying to avoid the rogue’s paw swiping at me with its claws extended out for my blood and trying to pull the stake from its other paw, I found myself in a bit of a pickle, as there wasn’t much room that I was working with. There was no doubt now in my mind that if I allowed this rogue to make its way completely into the opening I would be as good as dead, as there would definitely be no way for me to avoid it in these tight corridors.
