Chapter 167-3
Knowing this, I placed my foot against the paw the stake was stuck in, and without a second of hesitation, I tightened my grip around the stake and pulled as hard as I could. Thankfully, I had just enough strength left inside of me to dislodge it, but unfortunately, as I did so, I was unable to avoid its other paw.
Before I knew what the hell was happening, I felt its razor–sharp claws slice right through the flesh of my forearm, making me scream out in immense pain, as I tried my best to scooch my butt back away from the opening. But unfortunately, I found my back pressed against the foliage with nowhere to go, as the rogue’s paw now swung with determination to draw more of my blood.
Blood now seeped from my forearm, and I began to feel a bit woozy, as the amount of blood that I had lost was beginning to be too much. It didn’t take long before I began to feel tired, and I knew that it wouldn’t be long before my body gave out on me. Knowing this, and feeling the effects coming on fast, I knew that I had to give it everything that I had left in me right now, as it was an all or nothing kind of situation.
Unfortunately, my withdrawal from the fight gave the rogue an opening, one that he was trying to capitalize on, as I watched him digging his claws into the earth’s surface, trying to pull his way into the opening. Letting out a scream this time that could awaken the dead, I brought the stake down as hard as I could once again towards the rogues‘ other paw, stopping him dead in his tracks.
Another growl radiated from his lungs, but this time I could hear the pain accompanying it from the new wound I inflected onto him, pushing me to continue my attack since he was now showing signs of weakness. But once again, the damn stake was stuck, but this time in his other paw, and with what had happened last time, I decided to abandon it, while I used my good leg to kick him a hell of a good one.
In my attempts to land a few kicks, I ended up kicking the stake loose, and when I did, the rogue retreated his paw into the tunnel as the surrounding foliage began to shake this time out of control. There was no doubt in my mind that this rogue was going to bring this place down around me, as I must have royally pissed him off.
Moving away from the edge of the opening, I scooched my way into the middle, trying to avoid the foliage breaking down all around me. But unfortunately, as I made my way to the center of the opening, I realized that there was no way in hell that I was going to totally be able to avoid it, as it was clear that this rogue had enough of my shenanigans. As I watched the tunnel opening crumble, exposing a very pissed–off rogue standing now before me, I knew that my time was up.
Chapter 167-3
Raising its blood–stained paw high above its head, I closed my eyes, squinting them tightly together, while I took what I thought was my last breath, as I waited for death to take me for sure this time.
