Chapter 168 1
Chapter 168-1
Raven’s POV
It felt like the world paused as complete silence took over, and while I sat there waiting for death to take me, holding my breath with warm tears pouring down my cheeks, my heart that was once beating out of my chest, was now barely noticeable. For a moment, I thought that just maybe I was dying from a heart attack, and that God was taking mercy on me. There was no doubt in my mind that this death would be a hell of a lot better than the alternative, but as the seconds passed by, death never came for me.
Instead, the silence disappeared and in its place the sound of a painful whimper filled the small opening, before I felt a warm liquid splash against my face. Silence once again took over, while I felt the foreign liquid mingle with my tears, as they both slowly ran down my
cheeks.
I continued to hold my eyes tightly shut, too scared to open them, all while my heart felt like it jump–started and began to pound once again in my chest. As my heart began to beat steadily, it was apparent that I wasn’t going to die at this moment from a heart attack, leaving me now at the mercy of the wolf. But my fear of being mauled to death slowly dissipated as the silence continued, and as I sat there, continuing to hold my eyes tightly together, I began to realize that something was off.
Loosening the tension holding my eyes closed, I slowly opened the one, peeking out through my tear–stained eyes at what had unfolded in front of me. Honestly, I could barely see a thing through the blur, forcing me to open my other eye, before bringing my hand up to wipe away my tears.
My breath instantly hitched when my eyes finally focused on the two blood–coated beings lying motionless directly in front of me, making me at first move to quickly scooch back away from them. But as my eyes remained on the horrific site, I found myself coming to an abrupt halt when I noticed the thick dark brown hair on top of the one’s head.
Without even giving it a second thought, I began to hurry as fast as my broken body would move, knowing that the one lying on the top, covered completely in blood was no doubt Cash. Tears once again threatened to spill from the corners of my eyes, as I clearly was thinking the worst, but as I moved to his side and placed my hand against his back, I could feel the warmth of his flesh against the palm of my hand, telling me that his soul was still intact.
His name slipped from my lips as a broken whisper, while I tried to continue to hold back the tears, knowing by the looks of things he was in far worse shape than I was, even though my own blood was now running down my forearm to my hand that was lying on his back. Once again, I called out Cash’s name, but this time I managed to get it out just above a whisper, as

Cheife
Cash’s eyes remained closed, and he was showing no signs of consciousness, making me begin to wonder how the hell the two of us were going to get the medical treatment that we both desperately needed. Unfortunately, that was the least of my worries, especially when I felt the foliage around us once again begin to sway, this time to the point that I knew there was no way that it was going to withstand the force being applied to it.
At first, I leaned over Cash’s body, trying to protect it from the foliage that was breaking away from its foundation, but I quickly realized that he needed far greater protection. Looking around, I began to look for the stake I had been using, knowing that it was my only hope to protect us both from what was coming.
Unfortunately, my eyes were still blurred, and everything seemed to flow together, making it almost impossible to find a damn thing, especially with what little light was now available inside the very cramped quarters. With Cash’s body and the other one blocking most of the tunnel off, not much light was seeping through, but in a way that was a good thing, as it wasn’t just the light that their bodies were blocking out.
