Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 345

Up until n

ow, I had put up one hell of a fight to live and to save those that I cared about, but honestly, at this point I was so battered and bruised that I didn’t think I had much left in the tank to give. Hell, if I was being honest, I had no clue how I had survived so easily against my cousin, other than something must have taken hold of me at that very second, saving my life. But at this very moment, I had a whole pack of rogue wolves surrounding me, eyeing me like I was on the menu for their dinner tonight, and if I was being frank, I honestly didn’t foresee a way of getting out of this one.

I was barely able to stand on my own, and by the looks of things, there were easily over a dozen of them surrounding me at this point. With hope, I slowly continued to turn around, looking beyond the rogue wolves for any signs of life from my friends, but unfortunately, I came up empty. It didn’t take me long to realize that they must all still be back in the clearing where the cabin was, still fighting for their own lives.

Cash must have been the only one of them that was able to break free from the attack to try and come to my aide, but unfortunately, at this moment he was buried beneath the rubble of the foliage. I could only pray at this point that it is where he stays, hidden from what was to happen, because there was no way in hell, he was in any shape or form to fight in the condition he was in when I had abruptly been ripped from him.

Slowly, seconds began to pass by and turn into what felt like minutes, as they all just continued to stare at me with their canines bared, while I began to wonder what the hell they all were waiting for. But then I realized they were all just soldiers waiting for what I assume was their new commander and chief to join them to give their next orders.

Sure enough, that was exactly what they were waiting for, as their heads all turned, while a few of them parted as a wolf slightly larger than themselves entered the circle with his eyes narrowed, looking straight at me. I moved to take a step back, but froze in midstep, quickly realizing what was lying on the ground now directly behind me. Not wanting to step onto the carnage of my cousin’s corpse, I decided to stand my ground as I tried to swallow my fear.

You would think by now I wouldn’t have much fear left inside of me, especially since I had just faced a rogue Alpha dead in the eyes and somehow came out smelling like roses, living to tell the tale, but my luck was going to eventually run out, and I knew that. But thus far, I had learned a few things about these rogue wolves, and the one thing was not to show them any signs of fear. Right now, I truly felt like I was doing a piss poor job of that, as my legs underneath me felt like they were going to buckle at any given time, not from fear, per se, but from my weight on my wounded leg.

Chapt 170-1

Trying to now hold back the pain, I did my best at keeping my head held high, not wanting them to see exactly how badly injured I was, because I didn’t want to be seen as weak. Even though I knew that there was no way in hell I could survive fighting them all right now without another miracle, I wasn’t giving up.

A part of me was starting to believe that I might have a guardian angel watching over me, and that I just might make it out of this alive, but if I was going to do that, something was telling me that I had to stand my ground right now. Call it intuition or whatever you want to, but my gut was telling me to hold steady against this new challenger.
