Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 346

Chapter 170-2

I honestly don’t know why, but as he made his way to the center of the circle towards me, the fear that I was once feeling towards him was disappearing. With his canines bared, and saliva seeping from the corners of his jaws, I felt an indescribable feeling inside of me, that

made me feel at ease.

Even with him circling around me, as if he was eyeing up his opponent, I stood steady, holding my hands by my sides, while I tried keeping my head straight forward. Of course, I was nervous having him at my back, but something inside of me continued to tell me all was good.

At this point, I had to believe my intuition, as thus far it has kept me somehow alive. But it wasn’t until he stopped directly in front of me after completely circling me, did my fear actually begin to simmer away, leaving me finally truly at ease.

Now staring me straight in the eyes, he lowered his head as if he was bowing to me. At first, I wondered what the hell was going on here, especially when I looked around at the rogues that had me surrounded to see them all following suit with the rogue wolf directly in front of

  1. me.

By no means was I fluent in wolf etiquette, but something was telling me that this action by them all was a form of surrendering. Honestly, it had me blown away that they were giving up without a fight, but the more I stood there thinking about it, the more I realized that I had made the final blow, killing their Alpha.

In my studies, I had heard stories of soldiers and civilians surrendering to the enemy when wars had been lost, but honestly, I never would have believed that other forms of life here on Earth would abide by the same laws of war, especially the supernatural world. But then again, wolves were animals, and their primal instinct would be to fight for dominance. I guess in a way that was what I had just done, not realizing it, but if that was the case, did they foresee me as their new leader?

Just the mere thought of that was beyond absurd, because, let’s face it, I didn’t even have a wolf just yet to be their new leader. Plus, I have no clue in hell how I had so easily killed their Alpha, and I was sure if push came to shove, there was no way in hell I could do it again, as I was still in the abyss of what had happened.

Dismissing all the rest of the crazy ass thoughts I was having, I focused my attention back on the rogue standing directly in front of me, noticing that his head remained lowered, and I wondered what the heck he was waiting for me to do.

By the looks of things, he wasn’t making a move, nor were the other wolves anytime soon.

Chapter 170-2

Right now, I was truly at a loss for what to do, as I stared around at all of them with their heads bowing to me like I was some kind of royalty to them.

My mind was all over the place right now, trying to come up with what the hell to do, and the one thing that kept recycling in my head was to reach out and touch him. Honestly, in my head it sounded a hell of a lot better than in real life, because as I slowly raised my hand, it began to shake.

Quickly, I lowered my hand back down to my side, as my eyes began to franticly look around, hoping that none of them witnessed my show of fear. Thankfully, it looked as if all their eyes were still facing the ground. Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes, as I tried convincing myself that I had this, even though I was finding it difficult to now steady my hand by my

side.

Once I felt like I had my hand steady enough, I opened my eyes and once again slowly began to raise it, this time focusing completely on it, while I reached out ever so slowly towards the rogue wolf. The tips of my fingers were now only an inch from its bloodmatted mane, making my heart begin to race in anticipation.

Taking in a long steady breath, I closed the remaining distance, allowing the tips of my fingers to slightly brush against the course texture of his fur, before I finally exhaled my breath, fully committing. As my hand moved to lay flat against his flesh beneath his ruffled and matted fur, I felt something inside of me stir ever so slightly, as if something that was buried deep inside of me was finally coming forward.

But just as quickly as that feeling inside of me began, the sound of a howl echoing through the forest straight towards us made me retract my hand from the rogue, instantly stopping the feeling inside of me. As I stared in the direction that the howl had come from, I realized rather quickly that the howl had peeked more than just my interest, as all the roguesheads were now turned watching and waiting in the same direction as me.

Another howl followed the first one, but this time there was no doubt in my mind that I knew who this howl belonged to. Sure enough, within seconds of me thinking that, the familiar wolf appeared from the shadows of the forest, charging relentlessly straight towards me and the circle of rogues.

Before I knew what the hell was happening, the rogue wolves surrounding me formed a barrier line, while the rogue that was standing directly in front of me let out a howl of his own, as he moved to take his position on the front line. Without hesitation, I scurried the best that I could towards them, trying to push my way past the barrier, because I knew that I needed to stop whatever was about to happen.
