Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 350

Chapter 172-2

Just from picturing that beautiful moment in my head, I realized that it was ultimately the start of our friendship that we had, and it made more tears automatically begin to pool in my eyes, causing them to overflow. As tears now seep uncontrollably from the corners of them, I begin to sob, morning my friend’s death, as the howls from the rogue wolves come to a halt, leaving the clearing in complete silence.

At this point, I was feeling no more physical pain, as the emotional pain was so grave that it was numbing everything else that I had been feeling. My heart was completely shattered, and honestly, I didn’t know if I was going to recover from this one, as Mazie was just eighteen years of age, with her whole future left in front of her.

Through my tearfilled eyes, I barely noticed Jacob taking a few more steps back, as his eyes remained fixated on something behind me. His hand slowly began to rise with his index finger pointing straight out, while his mouth became ajar like he had seen a ghost.

My body trembled as I stood there facing him, too afraid to turn around, in fear of what could possibly be now behind me. Closing my eyes, I took a few deep breaths, trying to calm myself, knowing that I was eventually going to have to face whatever it was. But as I stood there with my eyes still closed, trying to collect what little strength I had left inside of me, I believed that I was starting to lose my damn mind.

Just above what sounded like a whisper, I could have sworn I heard my name being called, but there was no way in hell this could be possible, as it sounded like Mazie’s voice. My entire body began to shake, as I feared the worst, that I had finally lost my sanity and that I would be forced to go back to the mental facility that I had just left not so long ago. But as I tried to convince myself that I was dealing with the horrific trauma of losing my best friend, and that my mind needed time to process it all, Mazie’s voice grew louder, as if she was trying to haunt my ass for not helping her.

The thing was, I wanted to help her. I really did, but she didn’t know that because Jacob had stopped me from doing so, leaving me to have to deal with survivorsguilt once again. But 1 knew with Mazie’s death, I couldn’t just walk away from what happened, sheltering myself from seeing her body, like I wanted to.

Since I knew this was all my fault, I needed to make sure that she was given a proper burial, and that meant that I needed to make sure that her remains made it back to Beaumont, where her family could lay her to rest in the pack’s cemetery. Knowing that I needed to do this for my friend, because if I didn’t, I would never be able to live with myself, I try and pull my shit together as her voice continues to echo in my head, calling out my name like a bad record.

Chapter 172-2

Opening my eyes, I try and ground and brace myself for what I am about to encounter when it comes to Mazie’s remains. But even with my eyes wide open and with me doing the best I could to hold onto what sanity I had left, Mazie’s voice still called out to me, bringing more tears to my eyes, as I didn’t know if I had the strength to face what I needed to do with her

remains.

With my heart beyond broken, and with my head nowhere on straight in any near future, I took another deep breath as I slowly turned around to face what Jacob was still pointing at. As I turned in the direction of where I was sure I was going to see Mazie’s wolf’s remains lying on the ground, I froze, not believing what my eyes were seeing.

Blood and carnage painted the earth’s surface, not leaving even a hint of green from the forest’s foliage, but that wasn’t what had me stopped dead in my tracks, as I, too, was now just standing there like Jacob, with my mouth hanging to the ground. Honestly, I truly thought that I had lost my everloving mind, and that I was beginning to see things, because walking in my direction, covered completely in blood themselves, was Mazie and Cash, with their arms wrapped around one another.

My heart sank in my chest, as I wiped the fresh tears from my eyes, blinking a few times, still not believing what I was seeing, but as I continued to just stand there, and the two of them drew closer, I knew that I wasn’t seeing things. Not caring that my leg was wounded, I took off as fast as I could towards them, not even registering the pain from doing so, as tears filled my eyes once again, not just from the pain but also from the joy and gratitude that the two of them were alive.

It felt like it was taking me forever to get to them, but when I did, I threw my arms around them both, pulling them tightly into me with a death grip. Honestly, I was bewildered by what had happened, but honestly, I didn’t care, because right now everyone that I loved and cared about here was accounted for, and that was all that mattered to me.

Tears now poured from Mazie’s eyes too, soaking my shirt, as she buried her head into my shoulder, just as happy to be reunited with me as I was with her. Cash drew me in closely to his side, as he placed a kiss on the top of my forehead, while we all took this moment together to be thankful for living through what just happened.

This was clearly a miracle from God that we had all made it out of this alive, and I was beginning to believe that we all just might have guardian angels looking after us all.
