Chapter 181-1
Raven’s POV
I couldn’t help but close my eyes again, as my lips slightly parted this time, leaving out the softest of a moan, while I relished in the pleasures that the mere tips of Chance’s fingers were providing me. But unfortunately, as that moan slipped from my lips, and the pleasure I was feeling from his touch slowly made its way to my core, Chance abruptly retracted his
hand.
It took everything inside of me to hold back a whimper that threatened now to spill from my lips from the emptiness I immediately felt from the lack of his touch, but as I opened my eyes, I could see that something was clearly wrong. Chance now stood a good foot away from the bed, staring straight ahead at completely nothing, looking as if he was lost in his thoughts.
“Chance.” Shakingly whispered from my lips, as fear engulfed me that something was gravely wrong with him, but my gentle call of his name went unheard by his ears, forcing me to reach out for his hand.
As I took his hand into mine, I called out his name once again, but this time louder, making sure that it reached his ears. Thankfully, my endeavors worked and Chance’s head slowly lowered to look at me, and when our eyes met, I instantly knew something was wrong.
“Chance, what is it?” I asked him, as I slowly rose from the bed, now taking both his hands into my own, while I anxiously waited to hear his response.
“They know that you are back.” Was all Chance said to me before he tried to hide the look of dread in his eyes, but I had got a glimpse of it before he was quick enough to mask his fears
from me.
There was no doubt in my mind by the look on his face about who they were, as I was for sure that he was referring to the rogue Alphas, but the question now was, exactly how many of them were there? With me killing one of them, I was sure that I had even more of a damn bounty on my head then I had beforehand, but now I was also sure they were seeking revenge too for what I had done.
Damn it, I was foolish for coming back here, because if I was successful at doing anything, it was bringing them here and putting the lives of not only those that I love and care about in harm’s way, but also the whole entire town and the pack. Honestly, I don’t know what the hell I was thinking, but I am starting to see why my mother left here and never came back, as I now am wondering if it wasn’t just herself that she was trying to protect
Chapter 101-1
My whole thought process was that we would have time to prepare for more of them to come, or hell time to even form a plan or a strategy on how to beat them, but I guess that was all just wishful thinking. I should have known after what had transpired in West Virginia that they were relentless, and that they would seek revenge right away.
Grabbing me tightly by the arm, drawing me from the guilt that was consuming me, Chance began to pull me towards his bedroom door, as he said to me, “I need to get you some place safe. This is the first place that they will look for you.”
I tried to pull my arm from his grip, and my mouth opened to protest, but nothing came out of it, because I honestly didn’t have a winning argument with him. Thus far, if I was being honest, I have been lucky to survive what I have endured. Yes, my mother had made sure I had martial arts training, but when it came down to it, my training had barely kept me alive. If it wasn’t for Cash, Carl, and Mazie, hell even Jacob, I wouldn’t be standing here right now, but in hindsight, I couldn’t just leave them all to fight this battle for me.
Finally, as if I found my voice and gumption, I pulled from Chance’s grip and said to him, “I can’t just run from this. I’m the reason they are here, right? I can’t allow people to die for me.”
