Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 380

Chapter 185-1

Raven’s POV

I stood with my feet planted in the sand, staring out into the endless waves crashing onto the shoreline before they made their way to where I was standing. As the ocean’s cool water hit the tips of my toes, they instantly curled, kneading the softened sand beneath them, making me reminisce about the countless days I had spent on the beach as a child. Inadvertently, a smile slowly crept onto my face, knowing I was in my happy place once again, as there was no doubt in my mind this beach was the one my family and I used to frequent back home.

But as my eyes focused on the sun setting, causing the most beautiful hues of orange and red to reflect off the ocean’s surface, it brought back the painful memories of the last night I spent with my parents before the car crash. My smile faded quickly as a single tear fell from the corner of my eye, dismissing all the happiness I was just feeling, as I thought back to that night, wishing that I would have insisted that we just stayed home to celebrate my acceptance. But how were any of us to know that it would have been our last night together.

Trying to hold back my anxiety that threatened to take over, I closed my eyes and took a long inhale of the fresh salt waterscented air, as I wiped away the multiple tears that were now flowing from the corners of my eyes. Crazy as it may sound, I instantly felt a sense of peace take over me, almost like a feeling that I was safe. But I was quick to realize that it wasn’t the scent of the ocean that was calming me, but a scent that I had just recently become familiar with.

Chance?whispered from my lips, somehow subconsciously thinking that it must be him, but as the scent became even more domineering, I began to look all round me, not seeing a soul in sight. It was at that moment that I realized none of this was real, and that my mind had to have brought me here. The question now was, why did it?

My head instantly began to throb as I tried recalling what had transpired before my moments of being here. But unfortunately, it remained a blur as I was once again trying to protect myself from something.

Damn it, it reminded me of how I was after the accident when I lost my parents, forcing me to believe that something bad had to happen for me to shield myself once again like this. Fear began to consume me as I began to think the worst, while I continued to probe at my mind, trying to force myself to remember.

Crazy as it may sound, I felt like I was once again in a mental war with myself, but this time wasn’t going to allow my fears to consume me. A lot has happened since the day I lost not only my parents, but myself too, and little by little I had been gaining pieces of myself back while I was learning my true identity

Chapter 105/1

I was no longer that weak little California girl who had lost everything she ever knew or loved. No, I was so much more than that now, and I had everyone here in Beaumont to thank for that, especially the Ryder brothers.

The problem though, was that I had to convince myself that I was strong enough for the truth, so that these selfprotection barriers that I had put up would come down. Something in the back of my head was telling me that I needed to wake up from whatever façade it was before it was too late.

Not caring how bad it hurt, I pressed forward, fighting the internal battle with myself, knowing I couldn’t allow the darkness to take me once again. I wanted to scream out in pain from my head, feeling like it was going to burst, but I didn’t allow myself to do that, because I didn’t want to show any signs of weakness, even to myself.

Biting down hard on my bottom lip, I diverted the pain, while I pressed harder on the barrier stopping me from waking up, all while the ocean scent slowly dissipated, telling me that I was on the verge of breaking through. But even with me diverting the pain and pressing as hard as I could against the barrier, it remained standing strong, not allowing me to pass through.
