Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 382

Chapter 186-1

Raven’s POV

Within the door frame stood a female silhouette, but the lighting within the room was dim, not allowing me to immediately see her face. A feeling of unease began to take over, as I sat there on the bed staring at the faceless figure, thinking that it somehow looked familiar.

It wasn’t until that silhouette stepped into the room did panic rise within me. Quickly I turned to Chase, thinking that I would see him ready to step into action to defend me, but when my eyes landed on him, he did quite the opposite.

While I watched Chase step away from the bed, giving her a clear path to me, I found myself wrestling with the sheets, trying to get to my feet, as I asked out loud, What the hell is she doing here?

No sooner did those words leave my lips, did one of my feet get caught in the cotton fabric of the sheets, sending me off balance towards the floor. I braced my body for the hard impact, but before I could feel the pain of the fall, strong arms wrapped around my torso, stopping the fall from happening.

My heart instantly began to flutter in his arms, and for a second when I looked up into Chase’s eyes, I almost forgot my state of urgency. But that intimate moment we were sharing only lasted for a few brief seconds, because it was interrupted by Lexi’s voice asking, Do you two need a moment? I can come back later.

Immediately my eyes narrowed as both our heads snapped to look in her direction. Lexi was now standing at the foot of the bed with her arms crossed over her chest and a big ass smirk planted on her face. If looks could kill she would be a dead woman, because all I wanted to do right now was rip that smirk right off her face, but before I could even say a damn word back to her, Chase finally reacted to her unwelcome presence.

Taking his hand into mine, he pulled me behind him, placing himself in front of me, while his wolf let out a warning growl, before he says to her through gritted teeth, I told you to give her space.

It took more than a moment for his words to register, as I continued to repeat them in my head, making sure that I had heard him right, before I finally pulled my hand from his grip, taking a step back from him. My eyes were no longer on Lexi, but on Chase’s back, as this betrayal from him was so much worse than Lexi’s.

Tears once again began to pool in my eyes as my mind was racing a mile a minute, worried that Chase not only betrayed me but his brothers too. Just minutes ago, he had insured me

that Chance was okay, but now I was questioning if that was true, as my imagination and paranoia were in full bloom, thinking the worst.

Slowly, Chase turned to look at me, and this time I could see pure guilt plaguing those eyes of his, telling me something here wasn’t right. He may have fooled me a moment ago, but fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Far too many times, I have given him the benefit of the doubt and even gone as far as defending his actions to his brothers, but now, I’m starting to believe that he has pulled a wool over my eyes.

With our eyes locked onto one another, Chase reached for me, but this time his hand fell short, as I took another step back from him. A low growl rumbled from deep within my core, as it was clear that my other side was not too happy with Chase’s actions either.

Chase’s eyes widened, obviously surprised by my wolf showing herself, just like Chance was back at the ranch. But I could give a shit less about how surprised he was, because right now I was trying to stand my ground against him. Not only was I not budging from where I stood, but I was going to get my point across that I was done being fooled by him.
