Chapter 188-1
Raven’s POV
My head burrowed deep into Chase’s chest, as my arms tightened their hold around his neck, while I waited for the harsh impact of the fall to hit, but its wrath never came. Instead, I felt the slightest of a jolt when Chase’s feet gracefully hit the ground.
Raising my head from his chest, I loosened my hold around his neck, but as soon as I did so, Chase took off in a sprint, heading straight towards the vast forest in front of us. Looking back over his shoulder, my eyes widened as I stared in awe at the mansion slowly disappearing from my view. Seeing the structure, it solidified my worries that I was no longer in Beaumont, as there was no way in hell I would have missed a house of this magnitude.
With my mind racing a mile a minute, I turned my head around to see that we were now deep within the dark forest, with the moonlight seeping just enough through the density of the trees to slightly light the path in front of us.
Fear began to encompass me, and if I was being honest with myself, I didn’t know what was scaring me the most at this point. There were so many factors at play, but the one that was bothering me the most had to be the fact that I had no clue what the hell was going on here.
There was a reason why Chase had jumped, removing me from that place and away from Lexi, but I had no clue what was going on in that head of his. One minute it felt like he was in cahoots with her, and the next minute, he couldn’t get me further away fast enough.
Needing answers, I began to demand that he stop and put me down, and to my surprise, he did as I asked. Coming to a halt beside a small creek embankment, Chase carefully lowered my feet to the ground, before he turned his back to me, as if he was too ashamed to face me.
This was so unlike Chase, as he normally would have stood nose to nose with me, not showing an ounce of guilt or remorse for his actions. Thus far, Chase had never sugarcoated a damn thing for me, and had never taken my feelings into consideration, but this time, he had obeyed my demands without a fight, telling me something was gravely wrong.
Just moments ago, he had asked me if I trusted him, and for some reason I feel like I still do, but if he wants to maintain that trust, then he needs to start answering my questions I have for him truthfully. Knowing that he couldn’t lie to my face, I now demanded that he turn around and face me
Chase hesitated, and I watched his hands ball into fists by his side, as he tried his best not to give into my demands, but I was going to stand my ground, right where I stood. As if I wasn’t the only one that was wanting answers, my wolf once again showed herself by leaving out a

low growl, as if to warn him that we meant business.
Chase’s knuckles were now turning white, as he tightened his fist to their breaking point, this time trying to fight not only my demands but my wolf’s demands too. A low growl rumbled from deep within his chest, but it held no merit, as he slowly turned around to face me in defeat.
His head remained lowered, obviously too ashamed to look me in the eyes, making me wonder exactly what his role was in all of this. My fear that I was once feeling quickly began to turn to anger, as I could feel his guilt now radiating from him.
Knowing that eventually he would have to look up at me, I carefully chose my words, before saying to him, “You need to start talking, before I regret trusting you.”
Just as I imagined it, my words acted as a dagger, piercing him straight in the heart, forcing him to look up at me. Instantly, I could see the torment in his eyes, but even though it pained me to see this, I reminded myself of the situation, and that I needed to know the truth behind that pain.
