Raven’s POV
“I’m going to kill you, witch!” Chase growled while he pounded his fists off the door, but quickly retracted them, taking a step back as he hissed.
Holding his hands in front of him, he slowly opened them, allowing me to see what looked like steam rolling off the palms of his hands. Noticing that I was watching him, he quickly lowered his hands from my sight, before he moved across the room to the window.
With slight hesitation, he reached for the closed window but barely grazed the sill with the tips of his fingers, before he once again retracted his hands. This time, though, it wasn’t a hiss that accompanied his pain, but instead a low growl that shook the floorboards beneath our feet.
The word “silver” mumbled under his breath, while he began to look around the room for another exit, but something was telling me that this wasn’t a normal bedroom that Lexi had thrown us in. By the worried expression on Chase’s face, I was pretty sure that this room was our prison cell for the night.
Realizing that there was no way we were escaping this room, I moved to the bed and took a seat, accepting defeat, at least for the night. Leaning back against the headboard, I remained silent as I watched Chase frantically pacing around the room like a caged animal.
Honestly, I had never seen him rattled like this before, but then again, it was clear that Lexi, of all people, had his number. A half chuckle at that moment slipped from my lips, as I shook my head slightly, amused that she had ruffled his feathers with so little words.
If she had only had him in her grasps for a few more hours, I was pretty sure that she would’ve had him singing like a bird. Come to think about it, she had always had that effect on people, now making me wonder if this was one of her powers from being a witch.
“I’m glad you find my pain so amusing.” Chase said, startling me from directly beside the bed, making me realize that I had zoned out thinking about my past with Lexi.
Shaking my head, I looked up at Chase, ready to tell him that it wasn’t his pain that had me chuckling but the fact that Lexi had his panties in a bunch. But before I could even open my mouth to explain myself to him, he was already moving onto something else.
“I can’t believe that bitch has the nerve to imprison me. I’m going to kill her as soon as she opens that damn door” He said as he moved, planting his feet directly in front of it, like he was going to wait all night for her to open it, but I secretly knew what Lexi was up to

Something was telling me that the door was going to remain shut until Chase marked me as

his mate, now that Lexi knew I bared a mark from one of his other brothers. After everything that she had informed me about this damn family curse of mine, I was sure that her employer had plans for us, especially after Chase had defied him.
Unfortunately, by the looks of things, Chase was more occupied with getting his revenge, giving me no hope for that door to ever open. I pondered for a moment whether I should explain the situation to him, but it didn’t take me long to decide against it, as I remembered his words from not so long ago, telling me that he couldn’t do it.
So instead, I made myself even more comfortable on the bed, knowing that as long as I remained unmarked by him, that door would stay locked. Finding a remote on the nightstand, I powered the television on, grabbing Chase’s attention, as its sound filled the awkward silence in the room. But in all honesty, I would take that awkward silence back in a heartbeat, as I never imagined that Lexi would have tampered with the television too.
My cheeks instantly began to burn as a flush of embarrassment washed over me like a tidal wave, while my fingers fumbled with the remote, trying to turn the damn television off. Between the female screams and moans, to the explicit images, I felt like I was going to die.
I was just about to get to my feet when the television screen finally went completely blank. The breath that I didn’t know that I was holding came out as a long exhale, before my eyes slowly moved from the screen to Chase, who was holding the plug in his hand. By the blush that was now on his face, it seemed as if I wasn’t the only one that was affected by Lexi’s
antics.
“Your friend has a unique sense of humor.” Chase said through gritted teeth, as he dropped the plug from his hand, before moving straight towards me.
My body instantly stiffened as I watched Chase stride across the room, before only stopping inches in front of me. My heart was pounding against the walls of my chest as I slowly raised my head to look up at him, while all I wanted to do was curl up and die from the embarrassment.
Slowly, Chase leaned down, and his warm breath began to tickle my heated cheeks, making me swallow hard from his proximity to me. The damn heat then instantly rose in my core as he leaned down even closer to me, making me lick my lips this time, thinking that he somehow got turned on by Lexi’s antics and was about to kiss me, but boy I couldn’t have been any more wrong.
With his eyes holding my gaze, Chase ripped the remote right from my hand, before he licked his own lips and said, “Maybe its best if you don’t touch anything else in here.”
A smirk crept onto Chase’s face, and I knew it was because he could see how flustered he

had me, before he slowly began to stand up to his height. But I was the littlest amused by what he had said, sparking a different kind of fire alive inside of me.
Having had enough of his shit and Lexi’s, I crossed my arms over my chest, as I thought that he of all people had no room to talk, especially about touching things. He had pretty much turned this room upside down looking for a way out, where all I had done was turned on the damn television.
As that anger rose inside of me, I found myself stepping towards Chase, closing the small distance between us, before I raised my hand, pointing my finger right into his chest. All the preservation I had left inside of me went straight out the door, as I began to back Chase across the room into the wall, while I prepared to give him a piece of my mind, because honestly at this point, what did I have to lose?
