Raven’s POV

With my blood beyond boiling, I said angrily to Chase, “Seriously, you’re going to lecture me about touching things?” Before I narrowed my eyes at him, thinking that I had enough of his

shit.

From the very moment I met him, I felt like I was being taken on an emotional roller–coaster, but those restraints that he used to continuously torture me with were no longer binding. For the first time, I felt like I not only had the courage, but also the strength to finally put him in his place, as this ride was coming to a halt, and I was no longer going to allow him to play with my emotions.

Pressing my finger deeply into his broad chest, I thought about how much I would love at this moment to rip his damn heart out, allowing him to feel a similar pain to the one he had bestowed upon me all this time.

Even though my pain from him was completely emotional, it sometimes felt physical, especially when it felt like he was crushing my heart. But even as heart–retching as it is, and as badly as I wanted to watch him suffer, I knew that I physically could never cause any harm to him.

So instead, I decided I was going to hit him where I knew I could cause him the most torment. But before I could even put a plan into motion, his back reached the wall and I watched as the corners of his lips curled up, forming a familiar smirk on his face.

It was clear that he was amused thinking that he had once again got an uprise out of me. Unfortunately for him, that smirk was about to fail him, as I had plans on wiping it right off his damn face.

Slowly, Chase raised his arms above his head, and mischievously said to me, “I think someone needs to take a cold shower.”

A low growl rumbled from deep within me, as my fingertip pressed harder into his chest, but I quickly transferred that anger into amusement, thinking that two could play this game of his Lowering my hand from his chest, I took a step back, as I bit my bottom lip, while I thought to myself, I was going to give him exactly what he asked for.

With his eyes glued to mine, as if he was questioning my abrupt surrender, I took this as my opportunity to start the show he himself asked for. Moving my hands to the hem of the oversized shirt, I began to pull it slowly up my body, while keeping my eyes locked onto his as I continued to bite my bottom lip, knowing how much it rattled him.

Chapter 191

Noticing what I was doing, Chase’s eyes quickly diverted from mine, moving down my body to my exposed flesh. Biting my bottom lip harder, I tried to not allow his gaze to affect me, as I watched his Adam’s apple begin to bob, especially when he swallowed hard at the sight of my now exposed panties.

This little strip teasing show was solely meant to tease the living hell out of him, so why was his gaze leaving a trail of heat in its path on my exposed flesh?

Regardless of what this was doing to me, I continued on, swallowing down my own desires that were running rapidly through my head, as I slid the shirt even higher up my body, this time exposing the bottom of my perfectly round breasts.

A low growl rumbled from Chase’s chest, and before I began to pull the shirt over my head, I could have sworn I saw his eyes begin to glow amber. With my head completely covered by the oversized tee shirt, I paused for a few seconds, as I allowed my shielded face to falter, while I gloated in my successful play against him.

But in those few seconds of relishing in my efforts to conquer and destroy him, like I had ultimately sunk one of his battleships, an image flashed before my eyes, along with the feeling that had once come with it.

Instantly, heat rose in my core, as my face went sober, while I continued to remember how Chase had me pinned to the bed not too long ago by this same shirt. Not wanting to allow that moment to act as kryptonite for my plan, I quickly pulled the shirt fully over my head, exposing myself completely to Chase.

Another growl rumbled from Chase, this time shaking the floorboards beneath our feet, just like he had done when he was pissed that Lexi had the room booby trapped. Licking my lips, I wanted to laugh, knowing that not only did Lexi ruffle his feathers today, but so did I, without a single damn word being needed.

Taking every ounce of preservation I had left inside of me, I held my emotions in check, especially when I felt the wrath of Chase’s gaze on me. Never did anyone’s gaze make me feel this way, not even Cash’s or Chance’s, but then again, both his brothers actually wanted

Holding his gaze, I allowed a slight smile to form on my face, as I tilted my head ever so slightly to the side, exposing my delicate flesh where Cash had marked me. Wanting this moment to sting a bit more, I added some more fuel to the fire by softening my grip on the tee shirt, allowing it to slide down my fingers, falling on the floor between us.

With his eyes now completely amber, Chase stepped forward, letting out a growl that sounded territorial. His wolf was now a player in this game too, but unfortunately for his wolf, he was a part of Chase, and I couldn’t let him near me either.

Chapter 191

Raising my hand out in front of me, I pressed it firmly against his chest, stopping him before he could reach me, Instantly, the palm of my hand felt like it had been scorched, forcing me to retract it. Just like Chase had done after he pounded on the door, I held my hand out in front of me, convinced that I too would see it smoldering, but thankfully, that wasn’t the case.

Instead, I realized what was happening, as a jolt of pain hit me out of nowhere, ending my turn in this game, I thought I was winning. Turning on my heals, I didn’t even give Chase the chance to respond, before I raced towards the bathroom, with all intentions of barricading myself inside, because it seemed like fate just said to the both of us, “Check mate.”
