Chapter 194
Raven’s POV
For the first time since I met Chase, he slipped, and I finally saw what he had been hiding all this time from me since the moment we met. While he was clearly trying to punish himself by absorbing the pain that he thought he had caused, he opened some kind of link between us, allowing me to finally see through his facade.
All this time he had been trying to protect his unhealed heart, knowing that he couldn’t bear another loss like his mother’s. Honestly, I see him, as each day I’m burdened with the same pain from the loss of my own parents, worried that I couldn’t withstand another loss like theirs.
This whole time he had me thinking that he was at war with his wolf because he didn’t want me, but now I see that wasn’t the battle he was fighting. His war was actually his own personal battle of being afraid to love someone so much that he couldn’t bear losing them.
Now knowing this, I completely lost all my restraint, as I elongated my neck towards him, placing a gentle kiss on his lips. But as soon as our lips touched, that kiss no longer stayed what it was supposed to be, as I couldn’t get enough of his taste.
At first, Chase fully committed to the kiss, obviously just as taken by the moment as I was, as he shifted me in his arms, while ravishing my lips. With the shift, my legs found their way around his torso, as my hands moved to his hair, taking handfuls of his dark locks into them.
As if Chase was afraid this moment between us would disappear, he pressed his fingertips firmly into my flesh, holding me tightly to his chest, like he couldn’t bear to lose me. I knew from the pressure of his hold that bruises were going to form deep within the tissue of my flesh, but right now, I honestly don’t care, because for the first time, Chase’s actions and emotions were raw.
But just when things were about to get even heavier between us, Chase somehow found the strength to pull away, and I quickly realized where that strength was coming from. His guilt for all the wrongs he had done to me haunted him to the point that it was eating him alive.
Moving his hands to cup my cheeks, he forces me to stare him straight in the eyes, and I quickly noticed how bloodshot they were from all the tears he had shed in our heated moment. It killed me knowing how much torment I had caused him since I arrived in Beaumont, but I quickly dismissed that pain, realizing that we were never meant to be each other’s weakness.
Swallowing hard, Chase tries to speak but closes his mouth when it looks like he was unable

to find the right words. As he did his best to fight off the tears that had him so choked up, he just stared into my eyes, silently begging me for forgiveness.
Shaking my head in his hold, I also tried to speak but found myself unable to, even though I wanted to tell him that there was no need to apologize, because I had already forgiven him for everything. If anyone knew the pain he had bored, it was me, and I wasn’t going to hold what happened in the past against him.
We both were different people back then and did a lot of things that we regret, but we also have grown a lot in that short period of time too. As for him bringing me here, I didn’t blame him for wanting to protect those that he loves.
Plus, he didn’t just hand me over to Lexi and her employer. Chase had stayed this whole time by my side, even going as far as regretting his decision, leading me to believe that he never could have gone through with it in the first place. But seeing the look in his eyes right now, he was never going to forgive himself until I did.
Pushing my emotions to the side, I reached deep inside of me, finding the strength I knew I had to find, before I was finally able to whisper to him, “I forgive you.”
Chase stared blankly at me for a moment before he lowered his head, placing it in my bare chest. As the cold water trickled down my flesh between us, Chase began to sob, adding his warm tears to the mix, while I brushed my fingers through his dampened locks of hair.
I wanted to tell him that everything was going to be okay, but if I had said that to him, it would have been a lie, because honestly, I still didn’t know what the end game was for any of us. All that I knew was that we were all better off together, something that his father and my mother never accomplished.
My mother had run from her destiny, and his father had allowed her to with no contest. In a way, I now see who Chase takes after. He was definitely a momma’s boy by the sounds of it, but in the end, he was his father’s twin, especially when it came to his big heart, as he too gave up so much to protect those that he loved.
With only the sound of the running water and Chase’s sobs filling the small room, I remained silent, holding him now closely to my chest, allowing him to relieve himself of the pain and guilt he had bottled up all this time.
Eventually his sobs dissipated, and in their place, Chase left behind the most delicate butterfly kisses. His intricate placing of them ultimately led to me throwing my head back as they ignited a different kind of fire in my core.
Soft moans began to seep from my slightly parted lips, as the warmth from his lips made a trail from between my breasts up my chest, right to where Cash’s mark rested on my flesh.

The tip of Chase’s tongue gently traced the outline of Cash’s mark, spiking my heat.
My moans quickly turned to whimpers, as the mix of new desires rose within me, mingling with the ones I already had, while my pheromones became more than Chase could handle. Slowly, Chase took a step forward, pressing my now smoldering flesh against the cool tile, while he began to ravish my flesh around his brother’s mark.
Feeling lost in his touch, my head slid against the tile to the side, exposing every single angle of my neck, while my hands once again moved to entangle in his hair, inviting him to finally make me his.
My silent invitation was all I think he needed, as I felt his canines scrape against my exposed flesh, while he shifted my weight just enough to now feel his hardness pressed against the warm delicate flesh between my parted thighs. If it wasn’t for the fact that I had already experienced this moment with Cash, I may have been scared, but knowing how special it felt with him, I knew that it would feel just as magical with Chase in its own way.
Chase’s tongue at that moment, took one soothing lap over Cash’s mark, sending a warm fuzzy feeling throughout the entirety of my body and being, before I felt him enter and claim me at the same exact time.
