Chapter 195-1
Raven’s POV
The rich smell of premium coffee, the kind you find back in California in a gourmet coffee shop, began to awaken my senses from my sated slumber. As I leisurely turned with in the coverings, the remembrance of last night lingered, as every single inch of my flesh still tingled from his touch.
“Mmm…” mumbled softly from my lips, as I remained still practically asleep, while images of last night began to replay behind my closed eyelids.
Blindly, I reached out beside me, craving an encore of last night’s performance, but unfortunately, my hand fell short of doing so. Instead, the palm of my hand hit the unoccupied cotton fabric of the sheets beside me, making a whimper now slip from my lips, as my eyes slowly began to flutter open, wondering where Chase could possibly be.
As the empty bed beside me gradually came into focus, my eyes moved towards the open bathroom door, where the sound of whistling began to seep from within it. At first, I thought it was Chase, as the elated tune flowed into my ears, but something about it sounded all too familiar.
My eyes narrowed as I moved to sit up, pulling the coverings up around my naked body, all while my eyes remained glued to the bathroom doorway, waiting to see who retreats from within it. Honestly, as the tune continued, I began to think that my damn mind was starting to play tricks on me again, because there was no possible way he could be here. But as the bathroom light shuts off, and the person’s shadow within it steps out, my eyes widen in complete shock.
“Look at you.” Jacob said to me, as he moved towards the bed with a huge ass smile on his face, and I find myself staring at him, wondering if I was imagining him really being here.
Diverting back to the days when I thought that I was losing my mind after the accident, I kept my eyes on Jacob as I pinched my leg beneath the coverings, because it was my only true means of verifying that I wasn’t losing my shit. Thankfully, I felt it, solidifying that he was really here, but by knowing this, I had to ask how and why?
Taking a seat on the edge of the bed, I felt the bed dip with his weight, and when his hand reached out, taking a lock of my wiry curls between his fingers, he spoke once again to me, Girlfriend, this mane of yours has seen better days.” Did I know without a reasoning of doubt that he was truly here beside me.
Not giving it a moment of thought, I reached for him, wrapping my arms around his neck, as

happy tears began to flow from my eyes, seeing him so soon after our goodbyes.
But as Jacob cautiously, tapped the tips of his fingers against my bare back, saying, “I’m so happy you missed me too.” I realized that I was still naked, and quickly pulled away, pulling the coverings tightly around my torso, as my eyes moved to the watermark on Jacob’s shirt, wondering if it was from my tears.
Jacob must have noticed my line of sight, making him stand from the bed and move to the small table in the room, grabbing a very familiar–looking disposable cup of coffee, before he says jokingly to me, “I thought you might need your favorite latte, but as you noticed, half of it didn’t quite make it.”
My eyes narrowed while Jacob handed me the half empty cup, as I realized that it was still very warm to the touch. There was no way in hell that this cup of coffee could still be warm after a flight from California to here, but then I remembered I had no clue where here was.
For all I knew, I was the one back in California, and that would obviously explain how Jacob was here now beside me with my favorite coffee. But as I moved to take a sip, remembering the days that we had spent in the coffee shop together, planning our lives out, Jacob put that thought quickly to rest when he said to me, “The damn thing spilled all over me when Lexi transported us through some kind of wormhole–looking thing.”
