Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 404

Chapter 200-2

His eyes darkened a few shades, as the mix of my betrayal and his anger towards me fully took over. Throwing his hands up in the air, he loses his patience with me by saying, You know what, you’re right. All these years I had never cared about anyone but myself for a reason, and now I can see why. Thank you for the reminder.

Once again, I moved to reach for him, while I tried to say, Chase, I didn’t mean itBut he didn’t even give me the chance to apologize to him, before he turned and stormed out of the meeting room, slamming the door behind him.

Feeling like my world just came crashing down around me, I turned, placing my hands on the edge of the table, using it for support, while my heart felt like it was shattering into a million little pieces. A part of me was upset with Chase for what he had done, but another part of me now was dying inside, seeing the pain I had caused him with the careless words I had used.

I think I’m going to go and check on Chase.Jacob nervously said from across the table, making me look up to see that Lexi was still sitting there, but with her head down.

Turning my attention to Jacob, he gave me a half smile, telling me that he was going to go and do his best, which was damage control. Normally, it was because of Lexi and her mouth, but today, it was clearly because I was heartless with the words that I had chosen to use.

As I watched Jacob leaving the room, I took my seat, as I prayed to God that Chase would listen to Jacob, but I knew that I had hurt the little bit of trust we had established between us last night. It had taken all this time for the two of us to finally have a hearttoheart moment, and there I went and ruined it the very next day.

Tears began to seep slowly from the corners of my eyes, as I sat there with my head down too, thinking how messed up all this already was, and now I had pushed Chase away when I needed him here with me the most. But I also needed my other two mates, and I felt like for the first time I was being torn between the three of them.

You know he only did what had to be done.” Lexi said, still sitting across the table from me, forcing me to slowly raise my head to look at her through my tearfilled eyes.

Staring straight back at me, Lexi now had a very sober look on her face, and it was clear that she wasn’t done telling me what needed to be done. Getting to her feet, she moved around the table towards me, only stopping outside my grasp, before she leaned her butt against the table and said, The other two don’t have it in them to do what is necessary to win this war That’s why your grandfather chose Chase to help you rule his kingdom.

Wait, what?I said, as I moved to stand, not wanting her to think that she had the upper

hand on me right now.

Lexi’s head leaned back as a half chuckle came from her lips, while she remained leaning nonchalantly against the table. She clearly was trying to get under my skin, and if I was being honest, it was working.

She now had my mind racing a mile a minute trying to wrap it around her confession of what my grandfather’s wishes were, making me wonder if Chase even knew of his plans for him. He had said time and time again that he had no desire to rule his own pack with his brothers, making me wonder if my grandfather was fully transparent with him.

Either way, how on Earth did my grandfather think that this was going to work for me, since I had two other mates? There was no way in hell I was going to choose between the three of them, because the way I saw it, they were all now equal in my eyes.

Lexi’s laughter at that moment began to fade away as she moved to stand. Slowly, I watched her make her way across the room without a single word, but before she got to the door, she turned one last time to look at me, leaving me with her final thoughts. Eventually, Raven, you are going to have to make a choice like Chase did. Not all of us can have our cake and eat it too, and right now is one of those moments where you are going to have to decide between your happiness or the safety of so many others.

Lexi didn’t even give me a second to process what she had just said, before she too left the room, this time leaving me with her final advice, which I had no plans on taking. I wasn’t going to settle like she wanted me to, because if there was a will, then there sure the hell was a way, and I planned on finding that way.
