Chapter 201-1
Raven’s POV
Restlessly, I roamed the hallways of the massive estate, periodically checking back to the room that Chase and I had stayed in, in the hopes that he would return. But unfortunately, Chase had taken off, reverting to his guarded ways, and honestly, I couldn’t blame him.
After what I had said to him, I would be surprised if he ever forgave me, because it was beyond hurtful, and I now see that my words were inexcusable. Regardless of what he had done, I never should have used his insecurities against him.
Lost in my guilt, I found myself unable to focus on anything other than the fact that I had hurt Chase, leading me outside the estate to now search for him. As I gazed up at the sky, I noticed that the evening was coming to an end, as the moon and the sun now shared the
darkened blue heavens above.
Fall was now in full bloom, as the night’s cool breeze swept through what felt like the entirety of my body, drawing a shiver from deep within me. I had been under the impression that wolves are extremely hot–blooded mammals, but I guess that is only for those that have a wolf that isn’t locked inside of them, like me.
That thought redirected my thoughts for the moment to Chance, the brother I had actually chosen to be in a relationship with first, but the one that has yet to be able to claim me as his mate. I was now beyond worried about him, even though Chase had insured me the night he brought me here that he was fine.
I could only imagine the guilt and grief he must be going through, thinking that I had passed away in the crash. Knowing him, he would be blaming himself for my death, just like his father had done to himself all these years with the loss of their mother.
Thankfully, their father had responsibilities that he couldn’t let go. Between being the sole Alpha of the pack, and raising three young sons, his hands were full, which kept his mind busy. But the day that I arrived here, it was clear that my presence stirred up some bottled–up pain that he had buried many moons ago.
Seeing that pain in Evan’s eyes from the remembrance of the loss of my mother, I never wanted to bestow that kind of pain on his sons. But here I was, inadvertently and advertently doing so, leading me to believe that my wolf wasn’t the only thing that had a damn curse on it, but my love life too.
“Gurr…” Came from my lips, as frustration like I never felt before took ahold of my emotions completely, forcing me to take a seat on a bench at the far end of the garden to calm my

nerves.
Closing my eyes, I began to take long deep breaths, trying my best to stop this feeling of dread inside of me. As I slowly began to count while I focused on my breathing, I was interrupted right before I got to five, forcing me to open my eyes to see what had made the ruffling sound.
My eyes quickly took a sweep of the grounds in front of me, before I moved to stand to search behind me, knowing that whatever had made the noise couldn’t have gone too far. But as I turned, I found myself stumbling backwards, as I came face to face with a familiar rogue wolf.
Unable to maintain my balance, I fell hard to the ground, well my eyes remained glued on the rogue slowly stalking in my direction. At this angle, there was no doubt in my mind that this rogue wolf was the same exact one that had stalked me that night after cheer practice in the girls‘ locker room, as its red glowing eyes would forever be the nightmare of my dreams.
I knew that I should call out for help, but even if I did, would anyone hear me? All the men, women, and children that were here earlier in the day had disappeared by dinner time, telling me that I was pretty much alone out here at the far end of the garden by myself.
