Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 408

Chapter 203-1

Chase’s POV

Damn it, I was a freaking fool for thinking that Raven could love me the way that she loved my brothers. I should have known that even with her seeing me for who I truly was, that it wouldn’t ultimately change the way she thought about me.

What happened between us last night had to have been a result of Lexi’s damn witchcraft shit. I should have realized that something was going on when she had trapped us in that

room together.

There was no doubt in my mind that the dumb witch pumped some kind of sexual pheromones into the room to overwhelm me and my wolf with the temptation of our mate. It was the only thing that made sense to me, because why else would I have all of a sudden caved in, allowing Raven to see my damaged heart, after I had worked so hard to hide it from

her.

Even in my weakest moments, I was able to fully resist claiming her as my mate, even when I wanted to so badly too. Thankfully, back then, my fears of ultimately not being good enough for her, or worse yet losing her, like I had lost my mother, always won in the debate, allowing me to reason with my wolf to hold off. But now, I was totally freaking screwed, as there was no way in hell, I could ever hide anything from her again.

Before I had claimed her as my mate, the harsh words she had used beforehand against me used to sting a bit, but the words she chose to use today felt like she had ripped my damn heart right out of my chest. I could tell she instantly regretted saying what she had, but I knew she only did because she could feel the pain she had caused me through our mate

bond.

I hated the fact that she now knew how easily it was for her to hurt me, and how vulnerable my heart really was. At least with Jessica, I never really had to deal with my emotions, because she was a heartless bitch.

But with Raven, there was no longer a way to hide what was really in my heart from her now that I had fully claimed her as my mate. That was why I had to leave, because I couldn’t allow her to see how badly she had wounded me. Plus, it was best if I took off and ran off some steam, as I feared that I too would say something to her that I would regret.

But before I could take off, Jacob had caught up with me, and to tell the truth, he was growing on me. If Raven had to ever rely on a human for help, I was glad that she had him, because I knew that he would stand by her side, even if it meant that he would die alongside

her.

Chapter 209 t

His pleads for me to make a mend with her didn’t go unheard, but right now, my heart is freshly wounded, and I need to think for myself without the influence of anyone else, especially Lexi. Promising Jacob that I would eventually return, I shifted into my wolf and took off, heading back towards my pack’s territory, hoping to eavesdrop on the situation back

home.

I knew that Raven’s grandfather had sent scouts out yesterday, but I wanted to see for myself firsthand that the rogues had retreated. Plus, if I was being honest, Raven had me now concerned about my brothers, and I knew the only way I wasn’t going to feel the weight of the guilt her words held was to see that they were surviving with my own two eyes.

Honestly, I don’t know why I felt the need to check on them, because I knew that both were tougher than a woodpecker’s lips, but to ease the pain in my heart, I knew this would be the only way.

It took me about two hours to make the run back to our Northern Territory line, and when I came close to the border, I used extreme caution, knowing that the rogues could be lurking, but to my surprise, there wasn’t a single rogue in sight. Raven’s grandfather had been right thus far, as my wolf couldn’t pick up even the faintest of a trail by any of them, telling me that they had retreated with the false news of Raven’s death.
