Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 409

Chapter 203-2

Everything seemed to be going according to plan, leaving me to feel like I had made the right decision, even though it was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, going behind my family’s back. But by the looks of things, the pack seemed to be spared, saving countless lives of those that didn’t need to die at the hands of the rogues, leaving me to believe that my sacrifice to the pack was worth it.

Now that I could see that Beaumont was still intact, I headed for the ranch, hoping to sneak a peek at my brothers, assuring myself that they were okay, before I headed back to the Rogue Alpha King’s estate. But as I neared the ranch, I heard a howl ring out through the valley, stopping me dead in my tracks, as a pain like I had never felt before, hit me like a ton of

bricks.

My wolf instantly lowered himself to the ground, bringing his paws to his ears while he began to whimper out in pain. But it wasn’t our pain that had us paralyzed, but my brother Cash’s, as I could feel him through our joint bond with Raven.

With my wolf’s incapacitation, I forced the shift back to my human form, hoping to ease the pain from our bond, but unfortunately, the pain was just as bad, leaving me bent on one knee. It wasn’t until a second howl rung out, this time from Chance, did I find myself able to stand, but as soon as I got to my feet, I made the mistake of running for the tree line that overlooked the valley where our homestead sat.

Instantly my eyes spotted my brothers sitting in the middle of our backyard, and if I thought Raven had ripped my heart out today, the sight of them together like this and their pain just

crushed it.

Tears began to well in my eyes, as I realized that Raven’s words were justified. How could I have just dismissed how losing her would make them feel? Maybe Raven was right when she said that I was selfish and thought about no one other than myself, but I honestly never meant to hurt anyone.

I had made these decisions knowing that sacrifices were going to have to be made, but I never thought those sacrifices were going to be for those of the people that I loved and cared about. I did all of this to try and save what was left of my family and pack, but I see now that I may have just broken them worse than I already was broke myself.

You know they could use you right now.My father’s voice said, startling me from behind me, making me stumble back away from the tree line, praying to the Moon Goddess that my brothers didn’t see me.

I had been so engulfed in watching them and feeling their pain as my own, that I hadn’t even

heard my father sneaking up on me. Wiping away the fallen tears from my cheeks, I

continued to back away from my father, afraid that he would piece together what I had been

up to.

Chase, please don’t disappear again, sonMy father painfully began to say to me, as if my absence was affecting him, but I knew that they were all better off without me, especially after I had just witnessed firsthand the pain I had caused my brothers.

Come home, son.Now pleaded from his lips, as he moved to step towards me, reaching out his hands, but once again I took a step back from him, this time shaking my head.

Even if I wanted to come home, I knew that the decisions that I had made prohibited me from ever doing so. I had made a deal with Raven’s grandfather to ensure my family’s safety, and I knew that if I went back on my word there would be heavy repercussions.

I’m sorry. Was all I could get out to my father, before I stupidly shifted in front of him. Seeing me in my wolf form, my father’s eyes instantly widened in pure shock and fear, and I knew exactly why. This morning, when I met with Raven’s grandfather, after claiming Raven as my mate, he had me make the ultimate sacrifice of renouncing myself as an Alpha of my family’s pack. I no longer belonged here, and my father was the one now taking a step back from me, as I was sure that my red glowing eyes took him by surprise.

By the look now in my father’s eyes, I knew that I had just become his biggest disappointment in his life. Even though it pained me to see him look at me this way, I knew that if he only knew about the sacrifices I had made, he wouldn’t look down on me like he was right now. But my father will never know what I have done for him or my brothers, as I will never allow him to know what I had to do to save them all.

With that thought, I took off, not allowing myself to look back, as this was no longer my home to come home to.
