Chapter 209
Raven’s POV
Liam hesitated for a fraction of a second, but when he realized what was coming, his arm was around me in a matter of a second. Swooping my feet right off the ground, he didn’t even give me the chance to protest, before he took off into a mad sprint shockingly towards my grandfather’s estate.
Looking over Liam’s shoulder, I watched as Chase just stood there, waiting for the swarm of rogues to make their way to him, as I felt like we were cowardly running away, leaving him to stand alone. Even though just a moment ago I wanted to kill him with my own bare hands, I couldn’t leave him here to die alone, because the truth was, I still loved him.
“Liam, stop! We can’t leave him. There’s too many of them. They will kill him.” I finally cried out, making Liam look back over his other shoulder to confirm that I was right.
But instead of stopping, like I had asked him to do, Liam turned around and picked up his speed with even more urgency, before he tossed me in the air in one swift motion. A scream radiated from my lungs, wondering what the hell Liam was doing, but as my body twisted in midair, I finally could see what was happening beneath me.
Liam had shifted into his massive black wolf, not losing even a stride in his run, as I miraculously landed right on his back with a thud. Instantly, my body jolted forward from his momentum, forcing me to grip onto his wolf’s mane, as I tried to turn my head back around to get another glimpse of Chase’s wolf, but we were now too far into the forest for me to see
him.
An overwhelming feeling of dread began to consume me as I turned to face forward, realizing that there was nothing I could do to make Liam go back. But as I began to take in my surroundings, I quickly realized that my grandfather’s estate was only a hop and a skip from this point, which gave me the hope I needed right now.
Thankfully, my calculations were right, because within a matter of a minute the estate came into my view. My eyes quickly scanned the grounds surrounding the estate, and as I began to see motion, I opened my mouth to scream out for help, but Liam’s wolf beat me to it, letting out one hell of a massive howl that would awaken the dead.
For a moment, everything went eerily quiet, like Liam’s wolf had put the fear of God into every breathing creature on this planet. But as we neared the estate, that silence finally rendered as a series of howls filled the surrounding air, finally replying to Liam’s call for help. Rounding the last corner before the estate, a massive gate came into view, but Liam’s wolf

didn’t even pay mind to it. Instead of slowing down and waiting for someone to open the gate, his wolf picked up his speed like he was going to ram into the damn thing.
My eyes squinted together, as my grip on his mane tightened, bracing myself for impact, but that impact never came. Instead, I opened my eyes, to feel the wind softly tickling my cheeks, as we soared through the air, feet above the top of the gate, like the leap was nothing to Liam’s wolf.
With grace, his wolf landed, not even jolting me in the least bit. Once again, his wolf never lost stride, as he now raced straight towards the front door, as my grandfather’s men parted for us like the great sea. His wolf didn’t come to a stop until his feet stood right at the bottom of the steps that led directly inside.
Knowing that he had gotten me to safety, Liam’s wolf lowered his back to the ground, and I swiftly slid off, hoping and praying to God that Liam was planning on returning to help Chase with my grandfather’s men. But as Liam got back to his feet, I noticed my grandfather’s men were forming a circle around him, like they thought he was the enemy. Some had already shifted into their wolf, where others stood guard in their human form, but none of them looked as if they understood what the hell was actually going on here.
“What are you doing? The estate is under attack!” I yelled out to them, hoping that they would heave my warning, but instead, their eyes remained on Liam’s wolf, which I now realized they had seen as the only threat to them.
Low growls now radiated from Liam’s wolf, warning my grandfather’s men to back off, as he stood directly in front of me, while they began to box him in. I looked all around, wondering what the hell I could do to make these idiots see that the real threat lay outside these walls, but as I tried to find a sign or the words, they all abruptly stopped what they were doing and
took a knee.
For a second, I stared at them all quite confused, but then I heard my grandfather’s voice from behind me say, “This can’t be.” As I turned to see him staring directly at Liam’s wolf with his eyes filled with complete and utter shock.
Liam’s wolf’s growls abruptly came to a halt, as he turned to look at my grandfather, and for a split second, I could have sworn I saw the look of recognition cross his face. But that look was short–lived when he took a step back, narrowing his wolf’s eyes straight at my grandfather.
Before I knew what the hell was happening, Liam’s wolf let out one hell of a fierce growl, that made the hair on my arms stand at attention. Without warning, he turned and plowed right through my grandfather’s men like they were nothing, heading straight back for the gate.
Finally, my grandfather’s men took off, following Liam, but not for the right reasons, as I was

now worried about not just Chase’s life, but Liam’s too, now that my grandfather’s men saw him as the threat. Thankfully, Liam was able once again to clear the gate with ease, putting just enough distance between him and my grandfather’s men to soothe my worry about him.
But as I moved to run towards the gate to watch Liam’s wolf disappear into the forest, my grandfather called out, “Raven…” Stopping me from doing so.
Slowly, I turned around to face him, quickly noticing that Lexi had now appeared by his side, placing her hand on his arm as if to steady him. With what looked like a mix of confusion and dread in his eyes, he finally asked me with an unsteady voice, “Raven, tell me, who exactly is that rogue to you?”
