Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 417

Chapter 210

Raven’s POV

Jesus Lexi, you’re hurting me.I said as I winced from her damn dagger claws digging into my biceps, while she half dragged me up the stairs towards the bedroom I had been assigned.

Through her gritted teeth she began to mumble something at me, along the lines of, If you would just tell your grandfather the truth, then I wouldn’t have to do this.

Truth?I had told him everything I knew about Liam, which wasn’t very much, but I didn’t withhold anything from him. If anything, I thought that maybe the two of them would be the ones that would be able to enlighten me about Liam, since he seemed to be a rogue, but I guess my grandfather didn’t take too kindly to my sarcasm when I turned the tables to question him.

Lexi’s grip now tightened around my arm as we made it to the top of the stairs, and while we walked down the hallway towards my room, she began to curse me out under her breath about being a spoiled little rich bitch that never had to be accountable for anything. After everything the two of us had been through together, before and after my parentsdeath, I couldn’t believe that was what she thought about me.

With the flick of her free hand, the door to my room opened, right before she tossed my ass into the room, finally retracting her claws from my arm. Stumbling forward, I caught my balance right as I hit the footboard of the bed. Turning, I began to rub my biceps, trying to alleviate the throbbing pain her nails had caused, as I stared back at Lexi, narrowing my eyes at her, before I asked, Really? You’re going to lock me in my room for nothing?

Lexi huffed at my question, crossing her arms over her chest, while she stood in the doorway, blocking me from being able to leave. As if she looked bored, she leaned against the door frame, before she said to me, If you would just accept who you are, and not fight every damn decision that is made to protect you, then maybe I wouldn’t be forced to do this.

Me? Fight?I asked her, thinking about what the hell I have really done to fight all of this, other than trying to uncover the truth about those around me. Other than that, I think I have pretty much cooperated, even gone as far as keeping myself here with Chase, even though I wanted to so badly be in Beaumont with Chance and Cash.

Never once since I was forced to be here have I tried to escape on my own, but now I see how it was going to be if I ever tried. It was clear that I wasn’t a guest of my grandfather’s. but a prisoner, and it made me want to know what exactly my grandfather wanted from me, because it was obvious that I was never going to really hold any authority here. He had given

that birthright of mine to Chase, allowing him to make decisions for me, but I would be damned if I was going to walk around these hallways like a goddamn puppet.

With that thought, a low growl rumbled in my chest, as a surge of what I could only explain as electrical power rushed through my veins, making me stand up straight, before I said with authority back to Lexi, I will be damned if you think you can keep me here.

Lexi chuckled hard, so hard that she grabbed her waist and leaned forward, obviously finding what I had said funny. But my words held no humor in them, and I was beginning to lose my shit as her laughter was slowly making me see red.

I now knew what I had been trying to fight off this whole time, but now that I was seeing red in the middle of this dispute, it had me wondering what would happen if I allowed just a small amount of it to take hold. Unable to listen to another second of Lexi’s disrespectful nonsense, I decided it was now or never to give it a shot.

Closing my eyes, I bawled my hands into fists, as I began to embrace the feelings I once thought were panic attacks. My breathing slowly became unhitched as something foreign began to surge through my body, like I had given it an open invitation.

This foreign feeling was like nothing I had ever felt before, as it felt like something powerful was mingling on the edge of total consumption. Honestly, it scared the hell out of me, as I felt it begin to surge through my veins, awakening what felt like every molecule of my being, while a jolt of energy blasted my heart, like I had just down a case of energy drinks.

Opening my eyes, I stared straight ahead at Lexi, through a red veil of haze, as I tightened my fists, bearing down the surge of power that was now coursing through my veins, before I opened my mouth and said to her, I’m done being a prisoner.

Lexi’s laughter immediately stopped, as she moved from her casual lean on the door frame to a standing defensive position, while her eyes widened in disbelief. Raven, you must stop this right now. You don’t know what you are invoking.

Seeing the fear of God now in her eyes, was exactly what I wanted to see, because if she feared me, then she would no longer bully me around. This time I was the one to leave out a chuckle, from seeing that I had turned the tables so easily on her. Taking a step towards Lexi, I couldn’t help but smirk at her, especially watching her inadvertently take a step back from me out of sheer fear.

For the first time since I arrived here, I felt like I was the one that was holding the power, and to be honest, it felt good.

Knowing that she could no longer keep me caged, I made my way towards the door, backing Lexi right into the hallway. Raven, you need to stop this now. If you allow the darkness to

consume you, I fear there is no way that any of us will be able to save you.Lexi began to plead with me, but her words did nothing but anger me more.

Save me?I asked her, as my blood now began to heat within my veins, causing my skin to feel like it was on fire, but I bore the pain, trying to hold onto what little power I now held over

her.

Holding her hands out in front of her, Lexi placed herself in the middle of the hallway, stupidly refusing to give up, as she now says to me, Raven, listen to me. You’re not strong enough yet. This power you are feeling is just a taste of the real power that awaits to take over your body.

Another chuckle came from my lips, but this time it sounded demonic, making me question if I had embraced too much at once. Seeing that I had gotten my point across to Lexi that I wasn’t a prisoner, I decided to pull back a little, thinking that I had pushed it maybe a little too

far.

But as I tried to pull back, I realized that I no longer was in control, and that’s when I felt the real panic attack begin.
