Chapter 212
Chapter 212
Chase’s POV
When the initial shock of seeing Raven in this incompatible state wore off, my eyes finally spotted Lexi, leaning casually against the wall. The sight of her being so nonchalant about Raven’s wellbeing infuriated me, causing me to rush down the hallway straight for her.
Placing my hand roughly against Lexi’s shoulder, I nailed her ass to the wall, as I asked her through gritted teeth, “What the hell did you do to her?” Knowing damn straight that she was involved, because Raven’s body hadn’t moved a single inch since I stepped into this hallway.
Lexi stared me straight in the eyes, not showing even an ounce of fear towards me, while she raised her hand, placing it flush against my chest. Her signature smirk slowly formed in the corners of her lips, before I felt one hell of a zap hit me straight in the chest beneath the palm of her hand, sending me flying back a good four feet from her.
Her hand now slowly pulled together, making a fist, as her finger pointed straight at my chest, before she says back irately to me, “I didn’t do a damn thing to her, other than stop her from hurting herself and others.”
“Then what the hell happened to make her this way?” I asked her, desperately hoping there was something that I could do to reverse whatever this was, but as I turned my head to look in Raven’s direction, Liam was already in front of her.
Bent over, Liam was whispering something into Raven’s ear, so low that I couldn’t even hear what he was saying. Even though I knew that he was probably trying to help her, I couldn’t help but see red in sheer jealousy, seeing him so close once again to her.
Unable to control myself, I marched toward the two of them, but as I reached for Liam to pull him away from Raven, her eyes began to flicker. My hand stopped just inches from his shoulder, as my gaze now remained glued to Raven’s face, watching her battle, whatever this was that had taken over her, while Liam’s silent words were doing something to coax her.
As if he could feel my presence right behind him, he raised his voice just enough so that I could hear him say to me, “If you want to help save your mate, then you need to hold her in an embrace, because this internal battle she is now fighting, is the strongest mental battle she will ever have to fight.”
It was at that moment that I noticed the tension in Raven’s jaw, as I began to slightly sense the amount of pain she was in. But for some odd reason, I was having a hard time connecting with her through our bond, and that is when I realized that she was holding in all her pain and suffering to herself, not allowing it to flow through our mate bond

“Damnit, Raven.” I said to her, making her eyes slightly flick in my direction, before I moved behind her, pulling her into my arms, until her back was flushed against my chest.
It was now my turn to whisper in her ear, because whether she liked it or not, she was going to allow me to share her pain with whatever the hell this was that was harming her.
“I know right now that you may hate me, but damn it, Raven, I’m your mate. I’d be damned if I did all this just to lose you like this. Allow me to help ease whatever the hell this is…. Please, Raven…” I continued to plead with her, begging her the best way I knew so that she would open the flow of the mate bond between us.
Unfortunately, even with spilling my heart out to her that I couldn’t lose her, she still didn’t budge, even an inch. I should have known it was going to take much more than just a few words, because Raven was stubborn, even more so than myself, and it was clear that she was still pissed off at me from earlier.
As if Liam could tell that Raven wasn’t responding to my pleas and our bond, he reached forward, grabbing her by her hands, while he tried a different approach by saying to her,” Remember what I taught you? Close your eyes and take long deep breaths, while you slowly count to ten, exhaling all the negative thoughts haunting your mind.”
Seconds passed by, and I remained feeling nothing from her, but then, just when I was about to give up hope of reaching her, Raven’s body shifted slightly in my arms, as I felt her leave out a long slow exhale.
“That’s it. You got this.” Liam now said, continuing to coach her through this, as I watched him squeeze her hands, realizing that Raven wasn’t responding to me, but to him.
Yes, I was feeling jealous, but most of all, it was killing me, knowing that another male was the one soothing my mate’s pain, especially when she needed me the most. But right now, I had to suck it up, because if I couldn’t save her, and he could, then that was how it had to be.
With each rub of his thumb against the back of her hand, the tension in Raven’s body slowly began to ease, while I began to feel a throbbing pain. It felt as if a dagger was being driven right through my heart, seeing the way her body was reacting to his touch and words, but I knew that I deserved it.
But as I continued to bear my own pain, having to watch Liam successfully get through to Raven, it made me realize that the two of them had to share some kind of connection. This was by no means a relationship you would see between a therapist and their patient. No, this was much deeper than that, as only the blood of her blood or her mate would be able to share a connection of this level.
Turning my attention back to Liam, now that I was feeling Raven’s body ease even more

within my hold, I couldn’t help but notice once again the similarities of his features to my own. But as I continued to stare awkwardly at him, I now noticed that the familiarity that I had seen earlier was even deeper than just that, forcing my eyes to now wander between Raven and Liam, seeing an undeniable resemblance that I had missed at first.
As my mind went into a state of complete shock, I loosened my hold on Raven just as she let out a loud exhalation, slumping forward right into Liam’s arms. I found myself stepping back, watching Liam now comfort Raven by making a hushing sound, before telling her that he had
her.
All the jealousy that I once had between the two went straight out the damn window, as I realized who Liam truly was. But it wasn’t just me that added it together at that moment, as Lexi’s eyes met my own, both of us realizing that this changed everything.
