Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 420

Chapter 213

Chase’s POV

For the past two years, I searched for my biological mother with no luck, and just when I was about to give up all hope, Raven showed up out of nowhere. From the moment she arrived at the institution, I could feel a shift in the air, but it wasn’t until I finally placed my eyes on her face did I know.Liam finally confessed their connection to me, as he stared blankly out the window facing the courtyard, remembering a past I was sure he wanted to forget.

Silently, I sat there on the edge of the bed, watching Raven’s chest slowly rise and fall, while I listened to his story, trying to piece together what could have possibly happened all those years ago to make Raven’s mother give him up. It wasn’t a secret that she had run from our world, but I was now wondering what exactly transpired to make her leave.

Of course, I finagled my way into placing myself in her ward, especially after I read her file, realizing that I wasn’t the only one now considered an orphan. After spending one shift watching her, I was glad that I had, because I was the only one that knew what the hell was really wrong with her. It turns out that trauma can awaken parts of your subconscious that you weren’t aware was apart of you.He now says, as he turns to face me, but his eyes

weren’t on me.

Instead, his eyes were on Raven, but I didn’t care as I was no longer blinded by jealousy, leaving me to finally be able to see that the compassion and longing in his gaze wasn’t a desire to have her as his, but to finally be recognized as family.

Reaching, I carefully removed a strand of hair from Raven’s cheek, tucking it behind her ear, as I finally broke my silence from listening to his story to say to him, I am grateful that our Moon Goddess placed you in her life when she needed you the most. The Goddess only knows what could have happened to her if you hadn’t been there.

I don’t want to think about it.he then said as he turned away, not wanting me to see the look of dread on his face, but I had caught a glimpse of it before he could hide it from me.

By the little bit I had seen, I knew that even though they hadn’t been raised as siblings, Liam would give his life to protect her. Right now, with everything that was going on, it was nice to know that I had another ally on my side, one that I knew would die for her, just like my brothers and I would.

But with that thought, there still was another ghost in the room that needed to be addressed and that was why I saw and felt a familiarity towards him. As I stared at him standing across the room, I had to wonder if maybe Liam was a love child of my father and Raven’s mother,

but as I continued to stare at him, it wasn’t quite a brotherly feeling I was getting from him. Instead, it was like we were of the same blood, but not quite the same, making my mind wander just enough, that it landed on the cabin nestled deep in the mountains on my family’s pack territory to the north.

I had watched my uncle in secret and listened to the farfetched stories he told my brothers, but I kept my distance from him, as his presence gave me an unsettling feeling. But from what I had gathered, he claimed that Raven’s mother wanted nothing to do with him, making me now wonder what the hell he must have done to her, to make her not want to accept one

of her fated mates.

But before I could find the words to ask Liam if he knew who his father was, he moved to one of the chairs in the corner of the room and took a seat before he continued with his story. Honestly, I believed that it was going to just be the two of us, since it seemed there was no next to kin, but out of the blue, Rosemary’s name appeared in the computer system. Before I knew what was happening, Raven was put on a plane, being sent clear across the country to a town I had never even heard of before.

My eyes narrowed slightly as I looked in his direction, and I found myself unable to hold back the question that would ultimately seal the deal of telling me whether he knows who his father is. So, you never knew where your mother was from until Raven was sent there to live with your grandmother?

Liam’s head moved side to side, telling me he didn’t know, even before he said to me, I was over a thousand miles across the country, tossed around in foster care homes, until one day I realized that I was very different than those around me. The day that I woke up naked in the forest behind my last foster care family’s home, was the day that I packed everything that I could carry in a backpack and began my search for my mother. Unfortunately, my records were sealed through the system, but they weren’t sealed tight enough, and eventually I found a trail, leading me to California. I ended up just miles from them, but unfortunately, I ran out of time

Liam’s head lowered as he trailed off, and if anyone knew the pain he was feeling right now, it was me. I wore the loss of my mother on my shoulders, as a reminder that we are never promised tomorrow. As for Liam, I couldn’t even imagine the pain he must be feeling, never even getting the chance to set eyes on his mother, besides never having the opportunity to just talk to her and ask her why.

We were more alike than I wanted to admit, and just by staring at him in the hopeless state he was in, I could feel a kinship through his pain. I wanted to comfort him by telling him that he didn’t have to feel alone in this world anymore, because he not only had Raven, but he had me too.

But I didn’t get the chance to tell him this, because the door to the bedroom finally opened, making both of us move to stand. Lexi appeared at first, but she wasn’t alone, and as she stepped to the side, the Alpha Rogue King made his presence known.

His eyes gave the room a quick glance, before they landed on Liam, and by the look in his eyes, I knew that the deal that we had struck was no longer valid. I was now chopped liver since he had a strong enough heir to rule his kingdom, but the question I now had was whether he would still stand by his word to protect Raven.
