Chapter 224-1
Chase’s POV
“No freaking way.” Cash said in denial, as I turned my head to look over my shoulder at Liam still tending to Lexi, who was finally coming around.
“You don’t think dad…” Cash then begins to say just above a whisper, but he stops himself in mid-sentence, because we both know what that would mean.
The truth was, any way you look at it, if he or our uncle was Liam’s biological father, then that would make Liam the rightful Alpha of our pack. The problem, though, that I saw with this was that never in our bloodline history had a sole Alpha been produced, leading me to question if Liam was truly of our blood.
But there was no way to deny the kinship and connection that Cash and myself immediately felt to Liam, leading me to believe that there had to be some truth behind our assumptions. Unfortunately, right now, we had no way to question our lovely father or our so-called deceased uncle about their relations that they had with Raven’s mother before she took off, but if I was being honest, my money was still on our uncle.
With my eyes still on Liam, I slightly shook my head, before I admitted to Cash, “No, I don’t
think we share the same father, because we both know that father would have moved heaven
and earth to protect our mother. He never would have allowed his fated mate to walk away without a fight, knowing that she was with pup.”
“But what if he didn’t know?” Cash now asked, which was a valent point, but honestly, how wouldn’t an Alpha not be able to smell the sweet scent of their mate, carrying their offspring? Plus, the more we stood here talking about it, the more my money was on our uncle.
All these years we were led to believe that he was dead, but why? When I had seen father and him talking at the cabin for the first time, it was clear that it was no surprise to our father that his brother was alive, living secretly in the mountains of our territory. It now had me wondering if this was part of the reason our uncle was in hiding.
Turning back to Cash, I leaned in, before I whispered to him, “What if Liam is our Uncle Ethan’s? It would all make sense why he isn’t part of the pack anymore. I mean, we both know what happens to an Alpha if he loses his fated mate after marking her.”
A low growl rumbled from Cash’s chest, making me take a step back, as I realized that I probably should have chosen a different explanation, especially when he says back to me through gritted teeth, “Yes, at least one of us knows the pain.”
Deep down, I wish there was a way that I could make him believe that I was sorry for the pain

that I had caused him, but I knew there was probably nothing I could do. I had unfortunately burnt far too many bridges over the years between us, and I knew there was nothing I could say or do to take it all back. But even though I knew this, a mere “sorry” still came from my lips, knowing that it was the only thing I truly right now had to offer him.
To my surprise, Cash’s disposition instantly shifted, as the look of shock registered onto his face. Never before in my life had I truly apologized to either of my brothers with sincerity in that one little word, like I had just done now with Cash, probably shocking the hell out of him. But before Cash could respond to my apology, a warning howl echoed in the night’s wind, carrying it right into the Alpha Rogue King’s bedroom.
Cash and I immediately raced across the room to one of the open windows, staring out into the darkness of the night, trying to find the explanation for the warning, but neither of us could see a damn thing that could have caused it. But then Liam steps behind us, towering over us by a couple of inches, before he points almost immediately to the north, as he says, ” There… They must have had scouts in the vicinity of where the Alpha Rogue King had fallen. They probably see this as their one and only chance to take over the throne.”

Chapter 224-2
My eyes focused on where Liam had pointed and sure enough you could see the faintest
movement.
“There has to be at least a hundred rogue wolves.” Cash now said with panic in his voice, as he took a step closer to the window, like he was trying to get a precise number of what we were up against. But unfortunately, we didn’t have time to be calculating, when what we needed to be doing was rallying the Alpha Rogue King’s men for battle.
Knowing this, I turned with full intention to gather the army, but Liam was already heading out the door, making me wonder if he planned on taking over for his grandfather, even though he clearly had shown no interest in doing so.
“Umm… Chase, which direction did we leave Raven with Chance? Cash now asked with extreme worry in his tone, as I turned my attention back out the window, now scoping the landscape from the top floor of the estate.
When my eyes landed on the area, I was sure we had come from, the word, “shit” slipped from my lips, as I felt my heart sink in my chest, knowing that Chance and Raven were in the direct path that the army of rogues was heading here in.
“That’s what I thought. We have to warn them.” Cash said as we both turned on our heels, racing towards the bedroom door, knowing that we couldn’t leave them out there alone or they would get slaughtered.
But just as we make it to the door, the damn thing slams right in our faces. Before I could even think about stopping Cash, he reached for the doorknob, and this time he wasn’t so damn lucky.
“Son of a bitch.” He yells out, while he begins shaking his hand in the air just like I had done. A part of me wanted to be a d**k to him, like he had been with me, but I kept my comments to myself, especially after the little moment we had.
Turning, I glared at Lexi, knowing that she was once again up to no good, but by the look on her face, she wasn’t going to be able to hold that door closed much longer.
“What the hell do you want?” I asked her as I marched across the room towards her, knowing there wasn’t much fight left in her right now.
