Chapter 225-2

Knowing this, I made eye contact with each and every one of them before I began to say, “The enemy is now at our door, knowing that your Alpha Rogue King lays in his chambers on his deathbed. They want to take your land, freedom, and your mates from you, now that your King is falling. But you know what I am saying to that, just try, because none of us are going to go down without one hell of a fight.”

I paused for a minute as I could see the men looking around at each other, taking in the news I had just given them about their Alpha Rogue King’s failing health. Yeah, it might not have been the time to tell them this, but they had the right to know the truth and what they were fighting for, because the way I see it, they were all about to be free men, and needed to make the decision to fight for the right reason.

Seeing the worry now in their eyes that their King was falling, I knew that it was time to reassure them that I would stand by them.

“I was not born one of you, but I took an oath to step in to protect you and your kin through my mate bond with your Princess. It is an oath I will honor until a proper Alpha heir comes forward to take my place as your rightful Alpha Rogue King. But I can guarantee you that the rogues that are on their way here right now are not worthy of the crown held by your King. Where your King protected and provided, they seek to destroy and take, and I’d be damned if I allow that on my watch.”

Whispers now began to spread among the Alpha Rogue King’s men, as I now turned to see Cash moving to my side. My eyebrows furrowed as I stared at him, wondering why he had stayed behind, but then he reached out and placed his hand on my shoulder, before he said out loud, so everyone could hear him, ” And I stand by my brother’s side and all of yours too.”

My jaw at that moment about hit the ground, hearing straight from his mouth that he was willing to stand by my side. After everything I had done, especially after how badly I had hurt him by hiding Raven from him, here he was, still willing to stand next to me.

My feeling of shock must have been obvious, because my brother then turns to me and says, “Don’t look so surprised. You aren’t the only brother that has taken an oath. If you remember right, we all took an oath to stand by each other, no matter what the situation is, as long as it was for the good of our kind, and right now, you are doing what is best for us all.”

As if he was proud of me, he then squeezed my shoulder, before he turned around to face the Alpha Rogue King’s men once again, this time leaving out a howl, acting as the commander’s second in charge. calling the men to prepare for battle. Silently watching, I noticed not a single man standing here questioned his call to war, as they all rushed this time with poise to prepare.

Turning once again to face me, Cash froze while I watched his eyes widened as he stared straight past me, forcing me to turn to see what the hell had his attention. Instantly, my eyes landed on the black cloud of mist forming across the mountainside to the north, right near the spot where I was sure we had left Chance and Raven.

“I thought we had taken down whatever the hell that thing is with the Alpha Rogue King.” Cash somehow calmly said to me, but I could sense his anxiety about it as if it was my own, or maybe it was actually mine.

“I thought so too.” Is all I said back to him, just as the night sky began to swallow the moon whole, leaving it impossible to see past the lit grounds of the estate.

I

Fear like no other began to encompass me, not from what I was about to march the Alpha Rogue King’s army into, but fear from the fact that I didn’t know if Liam had made it to Chance and Raven In Time is get

them the hell out of there.

Once again, Cash must have been alert to my emotions, because at that moment he placed his hand back on my shoulder, this time trying to comfort me, as he says to me, “We have to think the best Chance is the strongest of the three of us, and he wouldn’t allow even a hair on her head to be touched.”

I knew better than anyone that this was true, but I couldn’t help but think back to the accident not too long ago, when I had saved Raven’s life from the burning truck Chance had been ambushed, and there were far too many of them for him to fight off alone. If it wasn’t for Cash and another group of rogues coming to his rescue, we might have lost him that night.

But thankfully the Moon Goddess has been on our side, and I just pray tonight she is too, because, by the looks of things, we are going to need a miracle to save our asses
