Chapter 226-1

Raven’s POV

25 Points

Feeling sated, I laid there in Chance’s arms, staring up at the moon hanging high above our heads, as a million little stars twinkled in the night sky, reminding me of the night that we declared our relationship in the bed of his truck. Although back then, Chance wasn’t fully transparent, but now, everything seems to be laid out on the table between us, as I am finally one of them.

Giving my body a slight squeeze, Chance leans his head against mine, pressing his lips to my forehead, leaving the softest of a kiss, before his lips gently move across my flesh, while he says to me just above a whisper, “I dreamt of this moment with you.”

My body instantly reacted to his words and touch, as I snuggled even deeper into his side, wrapping my leg up and over his torso, while the tip of one of my fingers gently began to draw a pattern of circles across the smooth flesh on his chest. If I was being honest, I too dreamt many nights of losing my virginit to him, but in the end, things didn’t quite work out the way I had planned them.

Before all of this, I didn’t believe in fate, especially after losing, my parents so tragically. I didn’t want to believe that this world could be so cruel that it had to end my parents’ lives, just so that I would end up in Beaumont, where my mates were, but that was exactly what had happened. If it wasn’t for each and every little negative thing that had happened recently to me, I wouldn’t be here right now with Chance, making me question if fate was good or evil.

But it wasn’t exactly fate that was on my mind, as all I could think about was the two curses that were placed on each side of my family. From my personal experience thus far, I can honestly say that by unlocking the curse from my grandmother’s side of the family, it has brought nothing but a powerful light to the table, saving all our asses on multiple occasions today.

Honestly, it had me wondering if it had been locked away for a reason, especially since it seemed to be the only thing that could stop the curse on my grandfather’s side of the family. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that my two different sides were like yin and yang, but I wondered in the end if they could peacefully live in harmony.

In a way, I needed to know this, because Liam and I were both a product of these two sides, and from what I could tell the darkness had a hold on both of us. It had me praying that this powerful light that my wolf now wields is strong enough to keep not just my own at bay, but also my brothers and my grandfathers too. Unfortunately, I wasn’t so sure that it was, as I could still sense that there was something still very off inside of me.

“Raven, what is it?” Chance asks me, obviously feeling the shift of my emotions, as I try and hold back my fears, especially after the moment we had just finally shared together. But unfortunately, right now, we didn’t have the luxury of a boneymoon, as I still didn’t know where the hell the darkness from my grandfather had disappeared to.

Knowing that I needed to be transparent with him, because if we were all going to make it through this alive, then we needed to work together, I admitted to him, “I’m worried. This light inside me, or whatever the bell you want to call it, seems to be able to ward off the darkness that curses my grandfather’s side of the family, but I’m not quite so sure that it can completely destroy it.”

Chance’s hold around me at that moment eased, as he propped himself up on one elbow, shifting me in

his arms, so that he could look at me, before he said, “Wait. What are you saying? I saw the darkness with my own two eyes disappear when you hit both your brother and your grandfather with your light. Are you trying to tell me that it didn’t destroy it?”
