Shit, by the looks of things, Raven’s spoken fear of not destroying the darkness was coming to life right in front of our eyes like a damn horror film. Not only had it survived her unusual fight of power, but it had also somehow found a more suitable host with one of the biggest rogue armies I have ever seen.

Personally, I could give two shits who wore the damn Alpha rogue crown, as long as they left my territory the hell alone, but unfortunately, it wasn’t going to be that simple. As long as Raven was alive, these sons of bitches would continue to come for her, and I knew, by the looks of things, it was because of that black mist that hovered over this Alpha Rogue’s back like a damn parasite. From what I could see, it not only was feeding off its host, but it was also empowering the individual that it chooses, making them far more powerful than a normal Alpha rogue wolf.

Earlier, it had taken me and three other Alphas to take down the Alpha Rogue King’s wolf powered by this damn thing, making it no small task. If I was being honest, if it wasn’t for Raven somehow separating her grandfather’s wolf from that dark force that surrounded him, I’m not so sure that even with all of us working together we could have won that battle.

But seeing this massive Alpha Rogue standing in the clearing, looking like he was on some kind of freaking ass steroids, there was no way in hell I was going to allow Raven near him, because I feared that I wouldn’t be able to keep her safe.

Just as that thought finished crossing my mind, I felt the Alpha rogue’s power, fueled by the darkness, begin to linger over his army, while it secretly fed off their fear that his Alpha’s presence demanded of them. Slowly. I watched it creep its way towards us, hovering high over our heads, concealed by the darkness of the night, like a dark cloud. Instantly, I could feel it trying to overpower me, just like it had done back at the estate in that bedroom, but I would be damned if I allowed it to feed off my fears.

Holding my ground, I gritted my teeth and fought the urge to submit to it, but as was battling to keep my own free will, Raven took a step back, snapping a twig beneath her foot, making everyone’s eyes, including the Alpha Rogue’s, to turn in our direction. Complete silence at that moment filled the surrounding air, and the only thing I could hear was the heavily beating sound of Raven’s heart, pounding in her chest out of

fear.

Unable to move my feet, because I knew that I would give up our location, I reached rny hand out to her, taking her hand into my own, giving it a slight squeeze to try and calm her nerves, while I kept my eyes glued on the red beady eyes staring straight in our direction. My wolf was now on edge, trying to break free, wanting to place himself between our mate, and all those wanting to harm her. But right now, he needed to take a damn step back, as there were far too many of them for me to protect her out here

alone.

With that thought, I tried to reach out to my brothers to warn them that we were under attack, but for some reason, there was no line of communication between us available. Something was telling me that this damn black mist was the cause of that, as it seemed to be now blanketing over us all, shielding the outside world as it grew stronger.
