Chapter 227-2

+25 Fonta

As a low growl now echoed in our direction, I found myself questioning if this time I would actually fail for real, losing Raven for good. But as Raven’s petite hand gave my hand a slight squeeze back, her touch awakened my Alpha instincts to protect her, washing away the doubt just in the nick of time, as one of the rogues moved in our direction.

Without hesitation, I stepped in front of Raven, ready to protect her with my life, but as I opened my mouth to leave out a warning growl, one hell of an Alpha’s roar came from the opposite direction. Instantly, every single rogue wolf turned its attention away from us and towards what they now see as their biggest threat.

Honestly, I had no clue who the hell would be foolish enough to charge an army of rogues, but someone seemed to have a death wish. I just prayed to the Moon Goddess that it wasn’t Chase and his stubborn ass pride, because I was going to use this distraction to get Raven the hell out of here and to safety.

But just as I turned to pull Raven away, she pulled her hand from my own, stepping out of the protection of the shadows, while the name, “Liam” panically slipped from her lips, forcing me to step forward with her. My eyes instantly landed on the familiar jet-black Alpha wolf that had fought by mine and my brothers’ sides against the Alpha Rogue King.

“Shit.” I said to myself, realizing that there was no way in hell that I was going to get Raven to leave him behind, now that she had seen his wolf charging towards us like a raging bull.

Knowing this, I began to scan the army of rogue wolves, taking a quick count of their numbers, seeing up close what we were up against. From afar, the army looked massive and impressive, but seeing their wolves at this distance, it was clear that the majority of them were nothing but mere mutts, being used to feed the evil that empowers the Alpha rogue they chose to follow.

Seeing this, I knew without a doubt in my mind that the Alpha Rogue King’s army would have no problem dealing with the large number of rogues gathered here for battle, eliminating one of our problems. The only problem was, the Alpha Rogue King was clearly down by our hands, leaving no one to command his

army.

But once again, I seemed to be proven wrong, as multiple howls began to echo our way from the valley, signaling that his army was prepared to make their stance. Føta second, I wondered how the hell this was possible, but then I heard two familiar howls simultaneously carry in the night’s wind straight to my ears, telling me that my brothers were on their way with back up.

The only problem was, I wasn’t so sure that they would make it here in time with the Alpha Rogue King’s army, as Raven’s brother’s wolf plows right into the rogue army’s frontline at full force, taking out a half dozen wolves all on his own. But even though it looked impressive, and he looked like he was fighting without an ounce of fear, that didn’t stop the next line of rogues from pouncing on him by the dozen.

Raven at that moment cried out, “No,” before she turned to look at me with tears in her eyes. “We have to help him.” She then pleaded with me, but I was torn right now about what to do, because the last time I had left her in a safe place to fight the rogues, I thought I had watched her parish in the truck explosion.

Grabbing me by the shoulders, Raven began to shake me, and as she awakened me from the visual nightmare from the night I thought I had lost her, she said to me, “Chance, are you listening to me? We have to help my brother!”

A low grow! rumbled in my chest, knowing that I wasn’t going to win this battle with her, because I knew

that I would never leave my own brothers behind, and I couldn’t expect her to do it either. With that thought, I grabbed Raven by the hand, pulling her behind me, as I said to her, “Don’t you dare leave my side. If we are doing this, we are doing this together.”
