Raven’s POV

I’m not going to lie, I was beyond frightened just thinking about what we were about to do, but seeing Liam’s wolf being attacked by the dozen, I couldn’t just run away like a damn coward. He was my brother for heaven’s sake, and the way I saw it, he was my now only living relative that I had, who gave two shits about me.

“If we are doing this, we are doing this together.” Chance now says to me, as he squeezes my hand one last time, before he takes a step back from me, shifting into his massive black Alpha wolf.

With my heart racing in my chest, I took one last look at what we were up against, before I nodded my head, agreeing with him that we should do this together, before I allowed my wolf to take control. Instantly, I felt her power surge straight through my body, awakening every single nerve ending I had.

Feeling as if I had downed a case of energy drinks, a rush of adrenalin hit me hard, and as it did, I felt the powerful light within me come alive. My wolf so badly wanted to call out to let my brother know that I stood by him, but I knew that we couldn’t compromise our position

just yet.

Although I knew little to nothing about war, I knew that we were behind the enemy’s lines, and from what I could see, we were the surprise of attack that would catch them off guard enough to make their plan of attack crumble. The only problem was, there were still only three of us and a damn army of them, but I knew from the dual howl from just moments ago that Cash and Chase were on their way with my grandfather’s army behind them.

All we needed to do was hold them off until they got here, but if I was being honest, the damn Alpha rogue wolf standing in the middle of the rogue army frightened the shit out of me. Liam’s wolf was huge, even bigger than Chance’s, but this rogue Alpha wolf looked to be much bigger than even Liam’s, and I worried about how we were ever going to be able to take him down, especially with the amount of darkness that hovered around him.

My wolf had succeeded in severing the connection between the darkness and my grandfather and brother, but it was clearly not of this magnitude. This darkness in front of me now had been feeding for a while on fear, like it had been gearing up to claim my grandfather’s crown. But we couldn’t allow it or its host to win, because if my grandfather’s crown fell to them, then we were all doomed by the looks of things.

This clearly was no longer just about my life, but about the life of all those innocent families that relied on my grandfather and his protection. It was crazy how so much darkness had

lived within my grandfather, but also how much good he had also done for his people too.

Honestly, I wish I would have had the chance to have known the man he once was before he became too weak to be able to withstand the curse that plagues our family. But unfortunately, by the looks of things, when Lexi and Liam had disappeared with him, I wasn’t getting a chance for any kind of anything with him.

Right now, I’d be shocked if he was going to make it through the night, and a part of me was sad to think about this, but in all honesty, I barely knew the man. In a way, it was like some mysterious force had protected my heart from getting crushed once again, by keeping the two of us apart even though we had been in the same house for days.

But knowing that he was unable to keep his people or any of us safe, I knew that it was up to us to protect what he had secretly protected for all these years. It wasn’t just his next of kin that he hid from the other Alpha rogues, but it was also his kingdom that he had built here for anyone that had sought refuge.
