Chapter 229-2

Cautiously, my wolf stepped to the edge of the forest’s shadow, and it only took a second for Raven’s sweet fresh scent of honey to tickle my nose, telling me that she was close by. But as I began to follow her sweet scent, I quickly felt the Alpha rogue’s presence.

My wolf’s eyes once again roamed the battlefield from within the shadows of the trees, until they landed on the Alpha rogue once again in the middle of it all. His head was pointed straight in my direction, but his glowing red eyes were focused on something at the edge of his warriors in the back.

That damn black mist of darkness that had been attached to Raven’s grandfather and brother was once again present, this time hovering right over the back end of the Alpha rogue’s army of warriors. For a second, I thought maybe he was using it to block an attack from the rear, but then it broke slightly, allowing me to see through it just enough to catch a glimpse of Chance and Raven within its grasp.

Not even giving it a second thought, my wolf gave up its hidden position, charging straight towards the black mist, knowing that if we made it through it, then we would make it to our mate’s side. For a second, I questioned my spontaneous decision, but then I realized that if anything happened to Raven, then I was as good as dead.

Knowing this, my wolf slammed right into the black mist without an ounce of fear, because all I could feel was my desire to make it to Raven’s side. To my surprise, the black mist cut like butter, allowing my wolf entrance.

Instantly, my eyes landed on Raven, who was standing thankfully safely a few feet behind Chance, but as for Chance, I now knew why I had heard his growl. Not wasting a second, I ripped a dirty ass rogue off his right side, crushing his neck with the force of my jaw, before tossing his corpse to the crimson-stained ground.

Joining my brother’s side, I began to take down the rogue warriors alongside him, one by one, as we held a line of protection for our mate, while our other brother was clear on the other side of the battlefield with the Alpha Rogue King’s army.

Chance was already visibly showing evidence of wear and tear from holding off the rogues and this position all by himself, making me wonder how I could get reinforcements to this side of the battle without being detected. But then I realized that there was no way in hell I would be able to leave his side, as there were now far too many of them coming towards us

at once.

Taking another one of the stinky ass bastards to the ground, I gave myself a few seconds to breathe, as I raised my head to see that the Alpha rogue’s eyes were still locked in our

direction. It wasn’t until I peered over my shoulder did I realize that Raven hadn’t moved a single inch from where she stood when I had arrived. My eyes at that moment noticed the black mist hovering right above her head like it was circling its prey.

“Shit!” I said in my head, loud enough that it got my brother’s attention, drawing his own two eyes to what I was witnessing. Honestly, I had no damn clue what the Alpha rogue was doing to Raven, but something told me that we needed to break his gaze from her if we wanted to save her.

Chance, who needed a break more than myself, took a step back, placing his massive wolf between the Alpha rogue’s gaze and Raven, while I took point, taking down another rogue, while I kept one eye glued on the massive Alpha rogue still in the center of it all. Sure enough, his gaze faltered, and as it did, a furious anger took hold of his wolf’s face, as his eyes began to brighten like a fire had been stoked to life within him.

For the first time since I arrived, the massive Alpha rogue moved from where he stood, as his eyes now moved to settle on me. “Shit!” I said once again loudly in my head, knowing by the look on this crazy ass mother effer’s face, he was gearing up to come right for me.

“Chance, man, what do I do?” I asked through our alpha bond, while I tried not to piss my damn pants and hold point.

Nothing but silence filled our line of communication, making me wonder if my damn brother took off with Raven behind me. But I didn’t have even a second to turn around to check, because the rogue warriors were now coming at me two by two, as if this bastard was trying to wear me down first before he pounced.
