Chance’s POV

“No, my father died before I was born.” Liam said in denial, but as I stand here truly looking at there’s no denying the kinship.

That menacing damn laughter of Jacob’s once again filled my head, but this time it only lasted thankfully a few seconds, before he corrected Liam by saying, “On paper, yes, they buried him, his grave remained an empty tomb for the past twenty–two years. Now I know you must be wondering why a firstborn Alpha would give up everything, and I’m here to let you know that I d some digging into this, no pun intended.”

My uncle’s wolf at that moment let out a low growl, before he snarled at Jacob’s wolf, interrupt him from telling us what he had discovered. For a second, I thought that my uncle’s wolf was g to full on attack him, as I could have sworn, I saw a flicker of red across his eyes, but just as qui as it was there, it was gone.

“Down boy. You are no match for me. Your mate thankfully made sure of that.” Jacob now says, showing absolutely no fear from my uncle’s feeble attempt to intimidate him, making me even more interested in what he had discovered.

But I wasn’t the only one that clearly was interested in hearing what he had uncovered, as Liam’s wolf, at that moment, stepped forward, letting out his own growl, drawing the attention of all of u before he said, “Enough with your damn games. Just tell me what it is you think you know.”

Jacob’s wolf stood in silence, not responding to Liam’s demand. I could tell he was using his silence to prove to Liarn that he wasn’t intimidated by him, but his silence couldn’t hide the slight change in his wolf’s posture. That little shift in his weight on his back paws, let me know that we stood a chance, even though he had the power of the darkness on his side.

Beyond annoyed by Jacob’s silence, Liam’s wolf let out a huff, before he now says to him, “Just what I thought, nothing but a bunch of bull shit to try and get under my damn skin.”

As if Liam too had noticed Jacob’s little slip, he then took another step towards him, standing tall as if he was sizing him up, while a low growl this time rumbled in his chest, before he said to him,” Your words will not save you from the inevitable”

Surprisingly, Jacob was quick to fire back to Liam with “You think I am lying to you? Ask your dear old daddy here, why he left you and your mother to play dead.”

My eyes now veered straight to my uncle’s wolf, wondering if he was going to finally chime in after Catest accusations, because thus far he has kept his mouth shut I had to wonder if it was

An awkward silence fell upon us all, as Liam now just stood there, waiting for my uncle to defend himself, but my uncle continued to remain silent while he stared at completely nothing on the ground. But then his cold voice broke the awkward silence by saying, “You lied to me.”

It was at that moment that my eyes looked down once again at my feet, to see my father’s wolf slowly beginning to rise, as the two brothers now glared at each other. For some reason, my wolf took a step back, as my eyes now stared at my father with suspicion, wondering if he could have possibly had a hand in all of this.
