Chapter 236-2

My uncle let out a low growl, and for a minute, I thought that the two of them were going to go back at it once again, especially when my uncle said to my father, “Boy, do the lies roll off your tongue like the truth. I don’t believe a damn thing that comes from your mouth. You had me convinced that she would never want me because of my scars, and that she only wanted you after my so-called death. Plus, now you say that my wolf haunted her dreams? So, which one was it, brother? Did she only want you or was my bond with her so great that her sorrow of losing me was too much for her to bear?”

My father, this time, was the one to leave out a growl as he moved to step towards my uncle, but Liam was quicker than he was, and placed himself right between the two of them, as he yelled, “Enough! Whatever happened in your past is done, and my mother is gone. Nothing you can say or do can change those facts.”

My father and uncle just stood there in silence, glaring at each other, as Liam remained standing between them, showing them that he had had enough of this, he said, babbling bullshit from their past, and quite frankly, I had had enough too. Honestly, I don’t think either one of them were being fully transparent about what went down all those years ago. Plus, so much time has passed, that who knows what their minds have altered as the truth to make them feel better about themselves.

Liam at that moment turned completely to face my father as he raised his hand, pointing his finger directly at my father’s chest. For a second, I thought he was going to stand up for his father, but then he surprises us all when he says to him, “You should be worried more now about your sons’ mate. If something happens to her, not only will this estate that my grandfather built fall, but your pack and territory too.”

Once again, I knew Liam was right. Without Raven’s power, there was no way in hell that we were going to be able to finally take down this darkness that has hovered over my ancestors’ happiness for many moons. The bond that my brothers and I share with Raven seems to be the strongest and closest compared to any of our ancestors before us.

If anyone had a fighting chance at breaking this damn plague from our past, it was us. But to do so, we all needed to work together, because even though my brothers and I all claimed Raven as our mate and released her wolf, it didn’t end at just that.

From what I have seen, her wolf’s power capability only seemed strong enough to shift the darkness to a new host, making me realize that there was no way in heli my brothers and I were going to defeat this darkness alone. We needed Liam and what was left of the Alpha Rogue King’s army to just remain holding the ground we have.

Seeing the bigger picture and that Liam and I were putting Raven’s wellbeing above all else, I realized that we were ultimately on the same page. As for my father and uncle, they were never going to agree to disagree, they made that very clear.

For a split second, I thought just maybe my father might pick my brothers and my happiness over his own pride, but as he turned to face me, I knew that was never going to happen. He didn’t even have to say a damn word for me to realize that he was going to put the pack first and foremost in front of Raven, just like he must have done all those years ago with his brother and Raven’s mother.

Knowing where his loyalty lays, I decided to make a bold move, one that no one here could see coming. especially my father. If he wasn’t going to give the oath to Liam that needed to be made to protect Raven. then I was going to do so.

With my father’s gaze still on me, I turn my attention back to Liam, while I get down on one knee. My Tather’s eyes widened at that moment, as he watched me slowly pull my hand into a fist while bringing it up to my chest, before I did something my father never thought I would do.

Without a moment more of hésitation, I give Liam my word that I will stand next to him to protect what is most precious to both of us, by saying, “As the Moon Goddess as my witness, I pledge my oath to you.”
