Chapter242-1

Raven’s POV

“Are you freaking kidding me?” Chance growled, before he moved to step away from my side, like he was going to lunge for Chase, but I let go of Lexi’s hand just in time to catch the tatt end of his tee shirt to stop

him.

Unfortunately, though, Cash was not in my reach, and I wasn’t able to stop him from giving Chase a hard shove, before gripping hold of the front of his shirt with both hands, while he said to him, “Are you a complete idiot? So much could have been avoided if you had just said something. But no, you protected that lying cunt over your own damn mate.”

Chase heard his brother out before he shoved him back hard, putting space between them, before he tried to defend himself by saying, “You’re right, I probably should have said something, but I wasn’t quite sure just yet about what the hell was actually going on. But hearing our father’s and uncle’s stories about what had transpired back then with Mrs. Jacobs, it’s clear that the old hag is still up to no damn good. So, sue me for not saying a damn word until now.”

“That’s enough!” Evan said, as he made his way now into the middle of the room, placing himself between Cash and Chase, stopping them from being able to kill each other, before he says, “The past is in the past, and we can’t change it, but what we can change is what happens from this moment forward. We have all made mistakes, and we have all paid dearly for them, but in the end, we are all family, and we can’t allow this to break us apart.”

Ethan instantly started to chuckle at his brother’s words, as he nonchalantly began to clap his hands, while he too slowly made his way to the center of the room. knew why he was reacting this way better than anyone else, as I wasn’t the only one feeling pained by this.

Both of us had been subjected to feeling the blunt end of their betrayals, but I was thankful that mine didn’t run quite as deep as the ones that Ethan had to bear. For two decades this man had to play dead, bearing not only the emotional scars that were clearly present from listening to him arguing with Evan, but also the permanent scars left on his body from his own brother’s betrayal.

Ethan’s clapping finally came to a halt, as he stood now only a foot in front of his brother. Staring Evan straight in his eyes, he bluntly says to him, “More like you want to leave the past in the past so that your sons don’t see you for who you truly are, but I think we are a little past that now. Secrets sometimes don’t stay buried, and you can’t keep reburying them with different lies. It’s time for you to finally come clean, or are you scared of what everyone will think of you once they know the truth?”

Immediately, a low growl rumbled in Evan’s chest, warning Ethan to back the hell off, and for a second, I thought that Ethan was going to let it go, but then he turns with a smirk on his face to look straight at Chase, before he says, “At least someone had the balls to come clean with their wrong doings. But that doesn’t make your secrets any less of a betrayal to your own brothers and mate. You’re more like your father than you think you are. For a second, I might have thought you could have been my son.”
