Chapter 244-1

Raven’s POV

Pushing herself in front of me, Mazie nudged me out of the way, as she leaned against the counter, while she put an innocent look on her face before she asked, “Where else would she be on a Friday.

night?”

Mrs. Jacob’s eyes moved between Mazie and me, like she was at a loss for what to say, until she

finally settled on asking us, “Two tickets?”

“Actually, three. Raven’s friend here from California is in town.” Mazie said, giving her a shorthand explanation, right as Lexi stepped just close enough that Mrs. Jacobs could see her silhouette.

“Oh.” Is all Mrs. Jacobs said, as she quickly moved to rip three tickets off the roll, while Mazie slipped the couple of dollars under the opening to her.

“Ladies, your hands, please.” Mrs. Jacobs then said, placing a stamp on Mazie’s hand and then mine, while she continued to say to me, “Miss Knight, on Monday morning I want to see you in my office about the lack of your attendance. Normally, this kind of behavior isn’t acceptable…”

But before she could finish scolding me, Lexi fully stepped forward into the light, slapping her hand down onto the counter. The color instantly washed away from Mrs. Jacob’s cheeks, while her eyes widened and her mouth hung ajar, as she just now stared at Lexi, in what looked like a total state of

shock and disbelief.

Slowly, I watched the corners of Lexi’s lips curl up into a smirk, as she glared back at Mrs. Jacobs. Honestly, I thought that our little plan was over on the spot, because I was pretty damn sure that Lexi was just going to let her have it right here and now. But to my surprise, Lexi somehow maintained her cool, and just asked her, “Are you going to stamp my hand?”

Mrs. Jacobs’s eyes finally blinked a few times, like she was trying to regain her composure, while she lowered the stamper to Lexi’s flesh, leaving the outline of a blue moon on the back of her hand like ours. It wasn’t until Mazie blew a bubble with her bubble gum, making it pop extremely loud, did Mrs. Jacobs fully come back to her senses.

Looping her arm through Lexi’s, Mazie looked over her shoulder at Mrs. Jacobs and nonchalantly said to her, “Catch you later.” Before she began to pull Lexi through the gates, out of Mrs. Jacobs’s sight, avoiding any more premature fireworks before we could execute our grand finale tonight that we had planned.

Thankfully, Mrs. Jacobs was so distraught from seeing Lexi that her eyes were now glued to the gates where Mazie and Lexi had disappeared through, that she didn’t even bother to finish

scolding me on my lack of attendance this week at school. Normally, I would have been worries about how it would look on paper, but now after everything that has happened, I could give two shits less, as my priorities have changed, from making something of myself, to just trying to stay

alive.

Taking one last look over my shoulder, I couldn’t help but smile as I stepped through the gates, leaving Mrs. Jacobs so distraught and lost in thought of her own demise, knowing that the torment she was feeling right now, was just a taste of what we had planned for her.

But as I stepped onto the football field, I realized that she wasn’t the only one about to have a night filled with torment. “What the hell?” I asked myself, as I did a full circle, looking at the packed stands at the vast number of shirtless spectators, with numbers and school mascots painted directly on their masculine chests, while loud music blared over the loudspeakers, pumping them

all’up.
