Raven, over here!” Tonya, the freshman cheerleader called out, shaking her pompoms in the air on the sideline, trying to get my attention, while I watched Mazie and Lexi moving to the stands to find

a seat.

Putting my best smile on my face, I jogged across the field to where the cheerleaders were gathering, while I kept my eyes on my two friends, wanting to know exactly where they were sitting, before i took my place on the sidelines with my fellow cheerleaders.

“I’m so glad you’re back.” Tonya said to me, as she pulled me into a hug, before she whispered into my ear, “Jessica told everyone that you moved back to California.”

“Oh, she did, did she.” I said shockingly back to her, as she pulled away from the embrace, as I let out a subtle chuckle, knowing that Jessica had been wishfully thinking.

“None of us really believed her, especially because none of the Ryder brothers had been to school all week either. Jessica literally was on edge, without Chase being by her side, and a couple of us were thinking that Chase had finally seen her for who she really was, or at least that was what we were hoping for.” She then said to me, and I couldn’t help but smirk, thinking that yeah something had gone down, something that was going to drive Jessica over the damn edge, but I kept that thought to myself, because now wasn’t the time to reveal it.

Not wanting to lie, but not wanting to give up the truth, at least not yet, I put a confused look on my face before I said back to her, “I’m sure the last week had to be hell for all of you. Jessica must have been in total bitch mode without Chase by her side. I can only imagine what she had to be thinking all week with us both being absent from school.”

“Trust me, it was hell.” She said, emphasizing the word ‘hell’, before her eyes widened, and she took a step back from me.

I didn’t even need to turn around to see what had Tonya looking so afraid, as I knew by the fear in her eyes that it had to be Jessica and her posse of merry bitches. Forcing myself to smile, I turned on my heels, and sure enough I came face to face with Jessica.

“I’m surprised my mother even let you in, but by the looks of things, she’s even letting the trash in tonight.” Jessica rudely said, as she looked over my shoulder at Tonya, who was now hunkering

behind me.

I was doing everything in my power at this point not to just put the bitch in her place, but when she leans in and says to me just above a whisper, “I don’t know where the hell you have been this past week, nor do I give a shit, but if I find out that you have been with Chase, I am going to make you pay. He is mine…”

Everything that came out of her mouth from that point on was muffled, as I began to literally see red. My wolf was on the very verge of taking over, but once again I knew that it was too soon, as The big stage wasn’t quite yet set.

Gritting my teeth, I held back the low growl that rumbled in my chest, while I did my best to reason with my wolf that I would give her the chance to make her pay when the time was right. But even with all the promises I was making to my wolf, I couldn’t completely hold back the next growl that threatened to leave my lips.

Knowing that i needed to put space between us before I totally lost my shit, I turned around and took off towards the gates, hoping that I could calm my wolf before the cat was out of the bag. But as I rushed around the corner to get away from her, I found myself colliding with something hard that shouldn’t have been there.
