Moon Phased: The Triple Claim novel Chapter 49

Chapter 29-1

Raven’s POV

I never meant to bring Castrand Chase into the fight with Jessica and I, but it ended up that way. Cash right now was far from the easygoing brother I had found him to be, as it was clear that my fight triggered a side that I didn’t know existed in him.

As I moved to grab my backpack, I watched Cash out of the corner of my eye approach my coach, making me worry about what he was saying to her. But as I moved towards the two of them, thinking that I was about to be told by the coach that my actions weren’t acceptable to the squad, she said to me instead,Miss Knight, I guess I will see you tomorrow at practice. Before she walked away towards the squad, gathering them up, like the fight between Jessica and I never happened.

Cash closed the distance between us, placing his arm around my shoulder, but this time, it wasn’t an act of protectiveness I was feeling from him, but an act of show possessiveness, as he glared onto the field towards Jessica and her friends. Call me crazy, but I liked the way it made me feel, as it somehow gave me a sense of empowerment over her. But as the two of us begin to walk off the field, the adrenaline from the fight begins to dissipate, and the reality of what just happened begins to sink in..

Now in the comfort of his truck, away from everyone’s eyes, I break down, thinking that I may have just kissed my dream of Berkeley goodbye, as tears begin to pool in my eyes. In the heat of the moment, all my thoughts were just focused on making Jessica pay for what she had said, but now the realization was dawning on me what consequences I was going to have to suffer for my actions against her. But I wasn’t the only one now having regrets for my actions, as Cash’s silence as he drove away from the school was a clear indication that he too was regretting his argument with his brother.

I sat there in silence staring out the window, even when I noticed that he veered onto the road that led to

his house, thinking that he must just be on autopilot, or lost in his own thoughts. It wasn’t until he parked

the truck outside his house, did he finally break his silence by saying to me, I need to blow off some steam and calm down, and by the looks of things you need that too.” Before he got out of the truck, and

moved to my door to open it, making me wonder what he had in mind.

Wait. This is your idea of blowing off some steam?I asked him, as he saddled up two horses.

Yeah. What did you think I was talking about?

I don’t know. Maybe a punching bag, or lifting some weights? Isn’t that what guys do to blow off steam?I

asked him, as I stared at the horse towering over me, wondering if now should be the time that I told him I

had never ridden a horse before.

Cash lets out a chuckle, before he says, Is that what guys do? Well, I guess I’m not your normal jock head

from California that you are used to.

What does that mean?I asked him, knowing that his comment had to be fueled by the picture of Jacob and I on my phone, making me realize that Chance wasn’t the only one jealous of seeing it.

Tightening the last strap of the saddle, he turns to look at me, as he slowly removes his teeshirt, almost as if he was doing it deliberately, before he says, It means us country boys don’t need hightech gyms to stay fit.

My eyes widened as I took in the sight of him standing in front of me with no shirt with his jeans riding low on his waist, showing off the most delicious V and abs. My heart skipped a beat at that moment, as turned away from him, knowing it was wrong to be fantasizing about my boyfriend’s brother, while I covered my eyes.
