“And how do we know she is telling the truth? The girl has had issues since her parents passed away. You should see the amount of medication she has in her room.” Chase says to us, as if he didn’t believe what Raven saw, but that wasn’t the part of what he said that had

our attention.

But I wasn’t the one to ask him how he knew what was in her room, as Cash was even more curious than me. “When the hell were you in her room? Or should I ask, why the hell were you

in her room?”

“Calm down lover boy. Father had me pick her up for school on her first day. She wasn’t awake when I got there, so Ms. Wilson told me I could go in and wake her up. Trust me, nothing happened between me and your precious human mate.”

I thought that Chase was going to leave it at that, but I was dead wrong, thinking that he would just let it go, as this was clearly his chance to get back at Cash.

With a smirk on his wolf’s face, I knew what was next to come was going to push Cash over the edge, if not myself. “But she does purr in her sleep, and sleeps in the skimpiest little…” And that was all it took before Cash pounced on him, taking him to the ground, while Cash says to him through gritted teeth, “You have no rights to her like that, if you plan to reject her.”

“Is that jealousy I hear in your voice, brother? Have I got more action with her than you have? You know she let me get so close to her that I could almost taste her sweet honey scent on my lips, while the scent of her arousal filled that little bedroom of hers, like a bomb had gone off. I guess it’s true what they say that good guys always finish last.”

A growl at that moment not only rumbled from Cash but from me too, as Chase had taken it too far, but I knew that I had to keep my cool, because she was his mate too. Even though he was saying that he was going to reject her as his mate, his words were telling me a different story, as it was clear the mate bond between them had affected him more than he wanted to

admit.

“That’s enough!” I said before Cash could retaliate, drawing their attention back to me as Cash released Chase from his grasp. “Regardless that Raven was on medication, we found evidence in the locker room, verifying her story, that she told Mazie. Plus, I picked up on his fate scent outside the school, but whomever this rogue Alpha is, he is good at masking his scent, which scares the hell out of me, because he could be anywhere on our territory.”

“Okay, say we do have a rogue Alpha on our hands. Why would he go after Raven? She is nothing but a mere human girl.” Chase asks, and it was the same question that had run through my own mind at first too.

“He must be after me. My scent was all over her from the night before” I admitted to him, making them both stare at me, wondering what I meant, but it was none of their damn business, as what they do with her is none of mine.

“Then we need to tell our father. He will know what to do.” Chase then says, like I hadn’t thought about going to him when this had all gone down, but our father had too much on his plate right now with the ranch and other pack business that I didn’t want to add to his stress

“No. We will deal with this on our own. I don’t want to burden him with our problems. He is under enough stress, as it is. Plus, if we are to take our positions in this pack soon, then we need to prove to him that we can handle the responsibilities that come with the titles.”

Cash at that moment moved to my side, as he says, “Chance is right. There’s three of us and one of him, and we need to prove to our father that we can work together for the welfare of this pack.”

I knew that Cash would see it my way, but as for Chase, I didn’t know how he was going to sway with my proposal, but, to my surprise, he nodded his head, before he said, “I’m in, but I’m only in for the sake of the pack.” Which was a good enough of a reason for me.

“Then let’s run the perimeter tonight and see if we can’t find this rogue Alpha together.” I told them, before we took off towards the mountains, knowing that it was the best place for any wolf to hide within our territory.
