Chapter 35-2
In a way, it made me admire them even more, knowing that they were there for their father when he needed them. On the other hand, I am now a bit anxious about being at school without one of them with me, with that thing still on the loose, and probably having to face Jessica’s mother today about what happened on the field between us yesterday.
As the two of us got out of the car, and began to head into the school, I was shocked to see that Chase’s jeep was here, when the other two brothers were helping their father. Of course, he wouldn’t put his family’s needs above his own, as I was sure that he couldn’t miss a day being with Jessica, over doing what was right, making me think even less of him than I already did.
Walking into the school, my eyes instantly spotted Jessica talking to her mother, and I knew it was just a matter of time before her mother called out to see me in her office. But to my surprise, Mrs. Jacobs looks up at me, putting a smile on her face, before she turns on her heels, walking away without saying a word to me. Unfortunately, Jessica didn’t walk away with her, but instead glared over at me, with an evil bitch look plastered on her face, as if she wanted to rip my throat out.
“Is it just me, or does Jessica look even bitchier today?” Mazie asked, as we stood in the middle of the hallway, while I continued to have a stare down with Jessica.
“I may have gotten into an altercation with her after you left to work at the Diner.”
“Hold up. Why are you just telling me about this now? And please tell me you bitch slapped her across the face. I have been dying to do that to her for years now.”
Jessica’s eyes narrowed, making me believe that she had just heard what Mazie had said. Not wanting to get Mazie involved in this dispute between us, I grabbed Mazie by the arm and led her away from Jessica towards our lockers, as I said to her, “No, I didn’t bitch slap her, but I wish I would have, because I am sure her mother is going to write me up for it at some point today.”
Mazie let out a half chuckle, before she said to me, “You do realize that if you get in trouble, then so does Jessica. Her mother isn’t going to do a damn thing about it, because she would have to discipline her own daughter too.”
I don’t know why I didn’t think about that on my own, but Mazie was right, and I was sure that was why Jessica didn’t look so happy.
Mazie’s phone at that moment went off in her pocket, and when she pulled it out to look at it, she quickly said to me, “I have to take this call. Are you okay with making it to class by
yourself?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. Go take your call I’ll see you in class.” I told her, as I sorted through my books, finding the one I needed before shutting my door to my locker, and heading to class, but I only made it halfway to my class before I felt someone grab tightly onto my arm.
Turning my head, I realized that it was Chase who had ahold of me, as he pulled me quickly into the janitor’s closet, while I nervously asked him, “What the hell are you doing, Chase? As the door shut behind us, leaving us in complete darkness, while my heart began to race, worried about what he was up to.
