Chapter 37-1

Raven’s POV

As the light from the hallway beamed into the small janitor’s closet, I felt myself being able to breathe again, especially when I heard who had come to my rescue.

“What the bloody hell do you think you are doing, Chase?” Mazie asked, as she pushed her way past him, wrapping her arms around me, before she began to move me towards the

door.

“It’s not what it looks like.” Chase says as he slowly gets to his feet, making me wonder then what he thought it was like.

He had pretty much shoved me into a closet, physically and verbally attacked me, and then tried to seduce me. To be honest, if it wasn’t for the first damn part, then God knows what I would have done with him in there, because his touch felt so damn good against my flesh that it made it hard to resist him. At one point, I was almost as messed up as he was from finding pleasure in it, but thankfully, I had come to my senses, stopping it before it could escalate into something more.

“The blood on your lips tells me something different.” Mazie told him coldly, not buying his story of denial of what he just did to me, like a true friend.

I was thankful that she didn’t believe him, but as we moved to step out of the janitor’s closet, that was clearly a different story, as all eyes were judgmentally on me.

A large group of our peers stood in the hallway, surrounding the door to the janitor’s closet, trying to see what had transpired. Of course, I would be the one for them all to blame for what just happened, because I was the crazy new girl at the school that wanted all three of the Ryder brothers, according to Jessica’s friends. It all made sense now what this was all about, as I was sure this was a stunt coordinated by Chase and Jessica, to solidify what was said about me on the field yesterday.

Anger then rose from the depths of my soul, as I turned to look at Chase, now standing behind me, licking the blood from his lips, with a damn smirk on his face. Pulling away from Mazie, I turned to him, pointing my finger straight at his chest, wanting to give him a piece of my mind, and make him the one to look like a fool.

“You need to leave me the hell alone. What do you think your girlfriend is going to say when she finds out that you pulled me into the janitor’s closet and tried to make out with me? Better yet, what do you think Chance is going to do when he finds out about this? News flash, Chase, I’m not interested in you. If you were the last man on this earth, I wouldn’t give you the

time of day. You’re nothing but a spoiled brat who is always used to getting his way, but you’re not going to have your way with me.”

Chase’s eyes narrowed as he looked at me, and I could have sworn I heard a low growl radiating from his chest, making me take a step back from him, as I realized I may have pushed him too far. But before he could reply to what I had just said to him, Jessica appeared out of nowhere and asked, “What the hell is going on here?”

“Why don’t you ask your boyfriend?” Mazie says sarcastically to her before she wraps her arm back around me, pushing our way through the crowd of our peers, whose eyes were no longer focused on me, but now on Jessica and Chase.

Leading me to the bathroom, Mazie quickly got a paper towel, running it under the faucet, before handing it to me, as she says, “You have some blood on your lips.” While she pointed to my face.

Moving to the mirror, I began to wipe Chase’s blood from my lips, while Mazie continued to say, “I can’t believe how low Chase will stoop. Do you know that he texted Cash that we hadn’t made it to school? He must have known that Cash would call me so that he could get you alone. What the hell did he even want from you?”
