Jessica rushed out of the restroom, not saying another word, as I waited until I heard the door shut once again, before I turned around to face Mazie. I knew by the look on her face she wasn’t pleased with me before she even opened her mouth, but when she did, she didn’t hold back her dislike of the punishment that I had enforced on Jessica.

“Seriously? You couldn’t think of a better punishment for her? I mean who is being punished here, me or her?”

“Both.” I said frankly to her, earning a confused look on her face before she asked me, “Why?”

“Because you are to be watching over Raven, and instead, I find her on the floor on top of Jessica.”

“She was winning that fight, I will let you know. I would have stepped in if Jessica had got the upper hand on her. If she is to be our Luna, human or not, you are going to have to let her earn respect in this pack, and what better way than for her to dethrone Jessica off her high horse.”

I didn’t want to admit it, but Mazie was right. The only way Raven was going to earn the respect in our pack was to prove that she was strong enough to be our Luna. I was hoping that it wouldn’t come down to physical strength, but one of intelligence. But after what I had just walked in on, it was clear that she also showed the strength of a warrior, even though she wasn’t one of us.

“Your right, but the punishment stands for Jessica. I hate to be the one to tell you this, but the reason we got here so quickly was because we were at the Diner trying to find a lead. Turns out no one has seen Josie, and her car is parked about a mile from her parents’ house alongside the road, where we found traces of her blood there.”

Mazie’s hand moved to her mouth, covering it, before she said to me, “Do you think a rogue got her?”

“Unfortunately, that is exactly what we think. The rogue’s scent was faint, but Cash and I are positive that it’s the same rogue Alpha that tried to attack Raven, but I haven’t told my father about it yet. That’s why we are pulling Raven out of school today, because it’s not safe for her to be here without one of us, and it’s clear that Chase can’t be trusted.”

“I don’t think you have to worry about Chase messing with Raven for a while.”

My head cocked to the side, as my eyes narrowed, while I asked Mazie, “And why would that

be?”

“There is something that you can do. I would like you to find a way to spend the nights with Raven. I don’t like the fact that she is unprotected at night, and that house of her grandmother’s wouldn’t withstand an attack from a rogue Alpha.”

“Say no more. I will find a way.” She tells me, but as the words come from her lips, a growl radiates from outside the door, making me wonder what the hell could be happening now.
