Chapter 39-1

Cash’s POV

Thankfully, the first bell rang, leaving only a few tardy students in the hallways, as I made my way out of the school with Raven tucked safely under my arm. She had put on a good show of bravery against Jessica, but the aftermath of it was beginning to show on her, as she willfully snuggled into me.

It wasn’t until I removed my arm from around her shoulder to open the door for her, did I notice a visible handprint on her neck. By the size of it, I was sure that it didn’t belong to Jessica, leading me to believe that there was only one other possible assailant that could have done this.

“Who did this to you?” I asked Raven, wanting to make sure that my assumption was correct, as I moved my hand to her chin, tilting her head to the side, as I took a better look at it.

Raven quickly pulled her chin from my grasp, as she covered the handprint back up with her hair, while she said to me, “It’s fine. Don’t worry about it.”

“Did Chase do this to you?” I asked her, as I tried to hold back a growl that was building in my chest, while a fire lit inside of me, wanting to make him pay for hurting her.

“Seriously, Cash, it’s fine. I just want to go.” She says, pleading with me, but I couldn’t just let it go, like she wanted me to.

I was her mate, and it was natural for me to feel the need to protect her, and make those pay for hurting her, even if it was my brother, who was to be her mate too, making me wonder how he could have possibly done this to her.

Unable to control my natural needs to protect her, I let go of the door, allowing it to shut as I turned and headed back down the hallway on a mission to find Chase and make him pay.

With my blood boiling in my veins, I could barely hear Raven’s sweet voice calling my name, as she followed behind me down the hallway, while I tuned all my senses into finding Chase at this moment. I knew the son of a bitch wasn’t in his class, as we had already looked for him and Raven there before we had found her in the girl’s restroom, but I knew his ass was still within these walls, and I was bound to find him and make him pay.

Thankfully for me, I shared a bond with my brothers, and that bond drew his ass to me like a beacon, as he could feel my raging anger inside of me, just not knowing it was fueled towards him.

path straight at me, as a growl rumbled from my chest, and through our mind link, I said to him, “I’m going to make you pay for what you did.” While I drew my hands into fists, but as I did this, I felt Raven’s hand cup over my one fist, drawing my eyes from Chase to Raven’s hand and mine joined together, while I felt the mate bond between us take hold.

Opening my fist slightly, her delicate fingers slipped between mine, as I took a deep breath feeling her soothing touch, while the immense anger I was feeling towards my brother became nothing compared to the feeling of our bond taking hold.

“He’s not worth it.” Raven says just above a whisper to me, drawing my eyes now from our hands to her face, while she gives my hand a slight squeeze, as her eyes beg me to walk

away.

“What the hell is going on?” I heard Chance’s voice say, making Raven’s eyes widen, as she retracted her hand from mine.

Raven’s eyes were now filled with worry and dread that Chance was referring to the moment we had just shared, making me not want to keep our secret from her any longer. I was the one paying emotionally for it, while Chance was the one reeking the benefits, since she was his so-called girlfriend, making me feel a bit resentful towards him, and stirring my anger back up inside of me towards Chase. But as I looked up to point a finger at Chase, to tell Chance what he had done to our mate, Chase no longer stood at the end of the hallway.
