Chapter 39-2

Beyond frustrated, I looked at Chance and said to him through our mind link, “That son of a bitch left a handprint on our mate’s neck.”

Chance’s eyes moved to Raven’s neck, but her hair was covering the handprint, making him move to her side, as he brushed her hair over her shoulder, exposing it. Instead of flipping out like I had, he leans down, placing a kiss on her forehead, before he says calmly to Mazie,” Take Raven to my truck and wait for us.”

His own anger radiated from him, but unlike me, he was able to control himself, especially in front of Raven. But he was in a much different position with her than I was, one that allowed him to comfort her like a mate should, while all I could do was defend her.

My eyes remained staring at where Chase stood moments ago, as Chance’s eyes watched the girls walk away, and once they must have disappeared from his sight, he leaned in and said to me, “You need to control yourself around Raven. We can’t expose ourselves to her just yet. We will deal with Chase later and make him pay for what he has done to her, but for now, we have other issues at hand that we must deal with. Can I count on you, brother, to keep your cool for now?”

Even though I didn’t agree with him on the way he wanted to handle things, we had the same mission, and that was to keep Raven safe and make her our Luna. I hated the fact we were keeping secrets from her, but for now I understood that it had to be done. The only thing was, I wasn’t going to hold back with her any longer, especially after feeling the bond taking hold, as it was clear that she was growing feelings towards me, that she was trying to hide from my brother.

“You can count on me.” I told him, as I looked away from where Chase was standing, knowing that he would eventually get what he deserved from us both.

“Good, because I need to know I can at least count on you, because Chase is a lost cause, and we are eventually going to have to talk to our father about him, and the situation we have at hand. But for now, we must secure the school, and make sure that no one else goes missing, as it is our duty to not only protect our mate, but the members of our pack too.” This was clearly why he was the first born, as he had the patience of a saint, and made decisions with a clear head, while I was the brother who normally was carefree, but let my emotions reflect in my actions.

As we headed back to the front of the school, Chance headed to see Mrs. Jacobs, as I headed out to the truck to make sure that Raven remained safe. But as I stepped through the door, and the wind shifted in my direction, I caught the faint scent that we had been tracking

for days now, alerting me that the Alpha rogue was near.

My eyes scanned the perimeter, as I tuned into my wolf senses, trying to sense where he was lurking, wanting to stop him before he could get anywhere near Raven. But I realized that I was too late to stop this from happening, as the sound of a scream filled the air, drawing my attention towards the parking lot where Chance had parked his truck.

I took off in a full sprint towards the parking lot, praying to the Moon Goddess I would get there in time to stop the rogue Alpha from doing any harm to Raven, while I sent out a mind link that the rogue Alpha was here to my brothers. As soon as I made it to the parking lot, I could see Raven and Mazie pinned to the truck on the other side of it, as Raven let out another scream for help.

I thought about shifting into my wolf, but Raven’s head turned at that very moment to see me running in her direction, and I knew this couldn’t be the way she found out about us. Just when the massive Alpha rogue came into my view, an earth-shattering growl filled the air, drawing everyone’s attention towards the football field, as a familiar Alpha wolf came running in our direction with his canines bared, heading straight towards the rogue Alpha.

Turning back, I just caught sight of the massive Alpha rogue’s backside racing into the forest, thankful that Chase’s wolf had scared him off, but I realized quickly that wasn’t Chase’s only plan, as he ran full force into the forest after him as if he had a death wish.

Quickly, I mind-linked Chance, telling him that we had a problem, before I moved around the truck, pulling Raven into my arms, grateful that she was okay, but now worried about my damn brother and his foolishness that might get him killed.
