Chapter 43-2
In big bold letters, the name Wilson was engraved onto the headstone, but it wasn’t just the name that took me by surprise, but the engraving underneath it that read, “Our beloved Alpha.
”
Mazie at that moment got down on her knees and began to pull away the tall weeds that covered the bottom half of the headstone, revealing a symbol that I had never seen before in my life. It was a full moon, with a crescent moon on each of its sides, as if it was representing the phases of our moons.
Getting to her feet, Mazie stared at the headstone beside me, as she asked me, “Do you think there is a chance that Raven is actually one of us?”
My head began to move from side to side, as I couldn’t wrap my mind around this actually being true, as I hadn’t smelt an inkling of a wolf present within her. Raven was nearing her eighteenth birthday, and if she were one of us, I would have been able to sense her wolf’s presence by now.
“This has to be just a coincidence. There’s no way that Raven is from Alpha’s blood. I would have sensed it by now, and so would you have. Plus, both of us have known her grandmother all our lives, and we both know that she is just a mere fragile old lady.”
“You never found it a bit strange that she is one of the only humans living in our territory? I mean I have questioned it, but I never really gave it much thought until now.” Mazie says, bringing up a good point, but the Wilson family have always been close friends with my family, making me believe that my family allowed them to stay here after we took over the territory, all those moons ago.
“Okay, I will say that it is strange, but I’m sure there’s another reason behind it.”
“I don’t know about that. My gut is telling me that we found this for a reason.” Mazie says now, as if she were Sherlock Holmes, before she began to wonder past the headstone, as if she was looking for a clue to solve her mystery, while I remained standing there staring at the headstone wondering if she was right.
It would explain how Raven had gotten the best of Jessica twice now, and how she had put Chase in his place, but if it was true, then why wasn’t I able to sense her wolf? Plus, there was the fact that her grandmother was just a mere human herself.
“It’s strange that there are no other Wilson headstones here but that one.” Mazie says, drawing my attention away from the headstone to her, before she says, “But all these dates of death are the same. Something serious happened on this day. Do you think the elders

Looking at the date once again on the headstones, dating back well over a hundred years ago, I doubted that our elders would know about it, unless it was written in our archives. “I think you will have better luck finding this information at the town hall in the archive records.”
“Then we need to go there first thing in the morning.”
“Mazie, we have a rogue Alpha on our hands, and people are missing. Trust me, I would love for your theory to be true about Raven, but right now, we need to focus on keeping her and the pack safe.”
“Fine then, I will do it on my own.” She says to me, as she turns her back on me, and begins to storm off deeper into the cemetery, before she comes to a complete halt in front of me.
“What is it now?” I asked her as I quickly moved to her side, but she didn’t need to say a word to me for me to realize why she had stopped, as we both stared down into a freshly dug-up grave, with an empty casket sitting at the bottom of it.
My eyes instantly moved to the headstone above the empty grave, to see whose grave it had belonged to, but when I read the surname, Ryder, on it, it made me take a step back as I realized that someone had disturbed one of my ancestors that was laid to rest here on our sacred grounds.
“Wait. Is this your father’s twin brother’s grave?” Mazie asks me, pulling me from my shock, making me turn my attention back to the headstone.
Sure enough, the name listed below the surname was Ethan Mitchell, my father’s twin brother, I had been named after. The date that followed his name was accurate to my own father’s birthday, but what I didn’t understand was why he had been buried so deep within the cemetery with our great ancestors, and why someone had dug up his remains.
“Cash, we have to tell your father about this. Whoever did this needs to be punished to the full extent.”
Mazie was right, this wasn’t something that I could keep from my father, but I knew I had better let Chance know first, or I would never hear the end of going behind his back. Just as I began to come up with a plan, the wind shifted in our direction, and Mazie quickly covered her nose, as she asked me, “Do you smell that?”
Unfortunately, I did, and there was no mistaking that scent. “Wait here.” I told Mazie, not wanting her to see what I was about to discover, as I walked into the wind, letting it guide me towards the source of the potent smell of death.
A trio of tall headstones now stood before me, all with the surname Ryder on them. Upon

further glance, I noticed they all shared the same birthdate, making them triplet Alphas just like me and my brothers. As I moved to step past them, following the scent, I froze, bringing my hand to my face to cover my mouth and nose, as I took in the horrific sight before me.
Leaning up against the back of the third tombstone of my surname, was a she wolf, with her face mauled beyond recognition. If it wasn’t for the shredded uniform covered in blood, and the name tag still in place, I wouldn’t have been able to identify the body, but unfortunately it was clear that I had just found Josie, our missing she wolf.
There was no doubt in my mind that it was time that we went to see our father with what I had just discovered, as it was clear that our Alpha rogue and the rogue our father was in the middle of hunting, were one and the same.
